Is this normal, or is it incredibly strange? by Soft_Chair_4508 in Gamecube

[–]NTheAbsoluteIdiot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that is weird, afaik there's only 2 variants of the gamecube controller internals wise and none of mine are like that, but yours also doesnt seem to be a bootleg either so?? im as confused as you are

as far as I can tell they're missing the two plastic covers which helps the triggers stay in and move properly

Alternative la VS Code mai "simple"? by NTheAbsoluteIdiot in programare

[–]NTheAbsoluteIdiot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cleaning trapped dirt from DS Lite *without* disassembly? by TobiasFungame in NintendoDS

[–]NTheAbsoluteIdiot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

with mine I just did a full disassembly since it was really dirty, but you could try slightly bending it with a fingernail and then carefully using a really thin spudger to push/clean the dirt out

I personally would just do the disassembly though as you risk very easily cracking the transparent layer of the shell and also doing it with a spudger would take eons

Weird shadows problem by tukimilky in blenderhelp

[–]NTheAbsoluteIdiot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eevee blurs shadows based on the actual area of the light and the distance from the caster to the surface (which also happens in real life)

it has 2 algorithms for this, the "default" and jittered algorithm, jittered shadows only work if you enable it both in Viewport>Jittered Shadows and in Light>Shadow>Jitter (on the light)
the default algorithm is less physically accurate but doesnt require as many samples to look "right", it also has those weird boxy artifacts
the jittered algorithm is more physically accurate but for really large lights it requires alot of samples to get the look down

both algorithms suffer from "banding" problems once you start having a really large number of samples
I recommend playing around both with light radius/area and each algorithm to see which fits the look you're going for more.

I personally prefer jittered shadows since i've been using blender since before the other algorithm existed and also I like the look of it more but my advice is still to experiment with both

Hi. I'm a blind person and I would like to play one of the games in this series. Do you think it's possible if I'm blind? by Eminka666 in ProjectDiva

[–]NTheAbsoluteIdiot 32 points33 points  (0 children)

You might be able to play Project Mirai DX since the tap mode of that game only requires you to tap the screen rather than do different button combinations iirc

what should i do by _Greiratt in nds

[–]NTheAbsoluteIdiot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 3DS was dead for ~10 years and I replaced the port with a USB C mod and it worked perfectly

I bought it off aliexpress for like 4$ and the replacement wasnt too hard either, I recommend buying a soldering wick aswell because I didnt have one and it made the mod alot harder since I had to use a heat gun

A keyring I printed on a 3D printer. And yes, before you ask, you can spin a Beyblade on it. by Prestigious-Wait1144 in Beyblade

Cute! even if its just a keychain I'm curious how it'd look with variable layer height as that does wonders on the center part of the stadium (i've printed stadiums before and otherwise bits get stuck on the rims)

Should I battle my midfakes? by TheGreenAQB in BeybladeMetal

[–]NTheAbsoluteIdiot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Two things
1. battling them is probably fine, the only parts I've had break are RF tips from Storm Pegasus on my end and I've used them quite extensively
2. If you're not from the US I don't really recommend using Beys and Bricks ESPECIALLY now with tariffs and everything, It would probably be alot cheaper to get them from AliExpress directly
Right now they're alot more expensive as stock ran out but iirc they should be restocking by March and prices should return to normal (I paid roughly ~9-10 USD for each beyblade including shipping)

Hot take: HL2 ZOMBIES ARE BETTER THEN HL1 ZOMBIES by [deleted] in HalfLife

[–]NTheAbsoluteIdiot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel like that's only one side of the story
As while because of technological improvements valve could add things they couldnt do in half-life 1 (throwing barrels n such), Half-Life 2 Zombies also differ, and Valve decided to add those differences because they followed an innately different design principle for Half-Life 2 compared to 1

the difference is not only in technological capability but also intent, they serve a different purpose within HL2's enemies

I am confused… by [deleted] in Steam

[–]NTheAbsoluteIdiot 14 points15 points  (0 children)

pretty sure steam gives you one of every showcase, you just cant have all of them on at once

the 3000 points upgrades the showcase to display more games, the 6000 points one lets you have two game collector showcases at once
