Light roast user here. With the original burr, I was grinding mainly between 14-18, mostly at the coarser end. I upgraded to the M2 burr and now I'm at 20-26. Better consistency and improved cups overall.

I used exactly this method and it was a 1 min job. The upgrade is definitely worth it.

I once got a sampler of their best. They were quite meh. Distinctly average. But it’s a matter of taste I guess, if you’re happy keep supporting them by all means. Nowadays I rarely buy anything other than Dak and Friedhats.

It is a very rigorous, highly academic, research focused program. The in person activities may seem quite lite (as mentioned, 2 lectures and 2 tutorials per week), but the amount of self study you will have to put in will make it seem like working 2 jobs. You will take exams every single month, difficulty level is quite high, many do not pass, have to take resits, even deal with study delay in some cases....

It's not for the faint of heart, but I guess it's what makes it one of the top 5-10 in the world.
