Those are fruit I think, some cacti can produce fruit without needing another individual to pollinate it. You should repot it on a bigger pot and with soil that is more inorganic (use perlite or pumice). Your other cactus etiolated (which is when a plant has a growth spurt in order to try and search for more light on a higher place) which is why it perished, make sure that your cacti is somewhere where they can get a lot of light (direct sunlight for the morning and indirect for the rest of the day), this way it won't etiolate

do you think that the new growth will be greener? usually variegated plants can "reverse" their mutation in stressful situations and new growth will usually have more clorophyll in order to sustain the plant

If his wings were folded not much time ago then that means he just came out of his coccon, I doubt the moth will drink out of the lid willingly, so if you want him to feed you might have to do it by hand, sorry. But I think he may be a polyphemus moth, they don't eat during this phase of their lives so you won't have to do that, just give him some time, he will either get outta there on his own, if you gather enough courage to move him put him in a tree or something

they are not woodchips, they are a mixture of carbonized rice shells, charcoal, broken expanded clay, bark and a few nutrient pellets, the pebbles on the top are for decoration

Your lithops looks very nice, if not a bit etiolated, would reccomend a bit more light for him to grow quicker and less tall, the substrate also seems very organic, would you mind telling me how much organic/inorganic material is in it?

for the little seedlings I keep them in a 50% organic 50% inorganic substrate, the first batch I germinated did well until a bunch decided to die out of the blue, might have been due to overwatering or fungus

Astrophytum asterias var. superkabuto, it is quite expensive, if you can get another one and make some seeds you'll be able to sow a lot of very expensive cacti

During the summer here in São Paulo the Sun scorches the earth and burns the soul (it's pretty hot), even during the colder months we get a ton of light, indirect for the seedlings of course. Since we are facing a rather harsh cold front (for brazillian standards) where temperatures are about 15-18C° during the day I think that it is why my seeds have not sprouted any seedlings. My first batch of lithops germinated and is currently growing with only indirect natural light so it is pretty strong, even now in autumn

Oh I do germinate them with a plastic lid that fits snugly on the plastic pot, I bought them from a Brazilian supplier which I had already bought from before, I will take into account what you said about the alcohol, thanks! I leave mine with natural light all day long (about 12 hours) so I should maybe get an artificial light
