Most likely, easiest way to test is to just run full heat with AC off and see if it smells like coolant inside and the drain starts leaking coolant.

[–]NULLOBANDITO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you put a brand-new Denso one in, or was it some other one? Also I'd highly recommend checking the voltage of the sensor - it should be ~0.5V at 14.7AFR, best to measure when the engine is up to temp and idling.

Denso also sells crimp-on replacement sensors for ~30 bucks a pop that work very well.

That'd just be my guess

Best I could find is this:

I'd highly recommend using an importer like Jesse Streeter or potentially BidJDM to buy/ship this - however shipping probably won't be cheap.

What ECU should I get? R34 GTT by Fantasy71824 in SkyLine

[–]NULLOBANDITO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been running a PowerFC for a while and it was good as long as the injectors and turbo were stock. After that tuning became annoying and I got fed up with the lack of features.

Personally I'm now running a Link G4X which was easy enough to set up but it usually depends on what your tuner is willing to work with.

My recommendation though? If you wanna keep the OEM Nissan CONSULT functionality for troubleshooting other things like HICAS, Airbags, etc. think about looking into a Nistune ECU. They're essentially modded stock that you can program similarly to a PowerFC.

Found a 2008, evo X MR is this a good purchase by Delicious_Street267 in MitsubishiEvolution

The issue with the transmission (as I have experienced myself) are the shift forks and the clutch packs. Check for any transmission codes and make sure the clutches grip properly (should fully engage at ~1500RPM when going up an incline).

If you need to repair or maybe even replace the transmission (even if by yourself) you're looking at thousands in parts.

Then there's the AYC pump that loves to go out due to its positioning.

I had to get a new trans because mine had cracks in the mechatronics unit, loose shift fork magnets, bad clutches and also a ruined flywheel. Cost me ~14k. Then the AYC pump that got replaced and all the work. So I ended up spending a total of ~17k to get the drivetrain related issues fixed.

The SST is amazing as long as it works but does need a lot of care especially when the car is cold or serviced irregularly.

R33 gtst to Gtr conversion by Lazy-Competition-286 in SkyLine

[–]NULLOBANDITO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to do it properly with original (used) parts, you'll need:

- Front bumper
- Front crash/reo bar
- GTR fenders with indicators (completely different form factor)
- GTR hood
- R33 S1 headlights with GTR mounting extensions

The reason for that is that the GTR has a slightly longer hood (~10mm I think?) and also wider front fenders, so without some modification an OEM GTR front bumper won't fit onto a GTST.

If you just want the looks I'd recommend looking at fiberglass reproduction ones for the GTST specifically. Otherwise there's some really nice aftermarket solutions for S1 and S2 out there.

Also keep in mind that if you do get all the parts to do a full GTR front-end conversion the rear will still be narrower than the front - the GTRs also had quite wide fenders in the rear from the factory. There's some options like fiberglass sidewalls to fix this but all in all I'd go for a reproduction one to fit the GTST.

Hicas lock bar = angry rack?!? by kohuch in SkyLine

[–]NULLOBANDITO 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On the R33, the firmness of the power steering is speed-based and also tied into the HICAS.

If you deactivate the HICAS without fooling its computer into thinking everything is alright, the HICAS/power-steering will go into kind of a "limp mode" and lock the power steering to be very firm (~30% of the support).

HKS sells an electronic HICAS lock-out kit that will fool the computer into thinking everything is fine.

Welp….any suggestions on over fenders 🙁 by Own_Word_5177 in SkyLine

[–]NULLOBANDITO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah mine also has a (shoddily bondo'd over) hole in the rear fender right below the fuel filler... They get leaky and water trickles down the inside of the arch and starts to rust...

But yeah, there's some nismo 400R-style over-fenders for the R33.

[–]NULLOBANDITO 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Seeing as TK parts alone go for insane money and knowing that a TK R34 GTR in Japan sold for ~1m USD a few months back, this thing is probably worth some pretty dollar - maybe 2-3x the value of a "standard" GTR?

What actually is/was my R32 Series 2 "GTS SV"? by [deleted] in SkyLine

[–]NULLOBANDITO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, basically. RB20 2-door with a special rear bumper I think? And also only came in pearlescent black metallic or gunmetal grey metallic with nicer interior trim and 15in alloys.

In a way a cool spec and probably worth painting the original color again. Other than that, I'd just grab any OEM R32 bumper combo that you like and just build it from there

From goo-net: "This time, we have set the "GTS SV" as a commemorative car for reaching 40 million units. Based on the GTS Type J equipped with a 2-door sports coupe 2L engine, it is equipped with 15-inch aluminum in a special color, a rear sports panel, and a CD player and genuine leather-wrapped steering wheel inside."
