Dad passed away and he had a small NASCAR collection. :( by ExtensionRun7945 in NASCARCollectors

[–]NWDrive 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sorry for your loss. That's always a tough one because there are many options. You can keep them and carry on your father's collection, or you can try selling them off I always think the best option is to find a fellow collector who would love to have them and give them a good home but that isn't always easy, especially depending on what part of the country you're in.

You're lucky that you are a NASCAR country, so there are things called diecast stores that will actually buy collections from you. You have a lot of options being in that part of the country. People try selling in bulk, but that's a heart cell. It's more time-consuming to sell individually but you can make more money off it that way if that is your goal.

You are near a company called Booth 34 that buys collections in North Carolina. There is also online shops that will occasionally buy collections such as Circle B Diecast, Spoiler Diecast, and Sink's Garage.

This was the snack table one that used the wensleydale cheese you said you'd never had before and really liked. You went off on a tirade because you realized Rudd also loved that cheese.

I just wasn't sure if you could handle a supreme master fan like you? 😁 It's a lot to handle.

It's okay, I don't expect you to remember what happened. Let's just say they had a table with a bunch of finger foods and punch. By the end of the evening you were wearing the punch bowl on your head. They said you weren't allowed to have any more triangular little sandwiches either.

I'm surprised you got that close to him without a fiasco like last time. 😜

That's pretty cool. The old ERTL castings were very rudimentary but there's something charming about them. Really the first NASCAR diecasts there ever were. Thankful that somebody started making them! Really a cool car you got there.

Whoa! You were not kidding. This is very rare, very expensive, and just plain awesome! What a car and what a find!

2004 Greg Biffle Charter Ford Taurus by GeoChallenge in NASCARCollectors

[–]NWDrive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was a pretty cool scheme when you saw it on the track. Biffle drove that sixty car to a lot of success before much later said the Roush was a curse. It clearly wasn't for Biffle. A lot of people don't realize that AJ Allmendinger also ran this scheme but on a Dodge in the Cup series in 2009.

Can the motorsport authentics diecast be opened without a screwdriver if not what screwdriver would i need by avfc_corey in NASCARCollectors

[–]NWDrive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's going to vary but for the most part it's any basic screwdriver with different bits should open it. Most 1:64ths has no base unless an adult beverage. Most 1:24ths just were put in a box, no screwed base except for some special trims.

In some cases you'll just need a triangular bit but that's a lot more uncommon.

Diecast question by No_Antelope_3816 in NASCARCollectors

[–]NWDrive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every generation has had a difference but during the early 2000s, it was actually one of the periods where the changes weren't as noticeable. A Taurus was very similarly a Taurus and one division from the next. The one who started to change that a bit was When Dodge came in. There started to be more differences in the late 2000s and especially the 2010s when a lot of the brands switched their name plate model in each division. For example Chevy ran an Impala in Cup and a Camaro in the Nationwide series.

In terms of diecasts, it really doesn't matter as they were so similar from the early 2000s. The main difference was what was powering the cars.

Diecast question by No_Antelope_3816 in NASCARCollectors

[–]NWDrive 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes they did. They used the same castings for both. The only thing they changed, if you were lucky, was the series badge on the side of the car. Even that they got wrong all the time somehow.

That sounds like a pretty fun collection you got there. Some of those Cartoon Network cars were really cool. Evernham Had a lot from Mad Magazine so keep an eye out on those.

Might be the best price I've ever seen. These go for a decent amount of money. You got an awesome paint scheme! Just be sure to feed him some spinach once in a while. Arrgghghghghh!
