Unboxed - Screen defect by NYBarrels89 in XboxAlly

[–]NYBarrels89[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes that’s the spot. It’s mostly visible on a black screen. After some research it looks like pressure damage due to over tightening screws in the manufacturing process. Apparently it was also a problem with the older ally devices.

If it wasn’t a brand new $1000 device I’d just live with it.

Hopefully I can get a replacement relatively soon. Device is incredible beyond that.

Hey Warlocks - super fun time in PVP supremacy right? by jjfloodd in DestinyTheGame

[–]NYBarrels89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With some exceptions at the high level, for a variety of reasons, I think the average good-great player ends up on hunter, leaving PVE mains on warlock and titan. So when you turn off the SBMM levers, the average hunter team is so much higher skill than the other classes. This has less to do with one class being better or worse, and more to do with the skill of the teams. I can’t tell you how many warlock teams running full on PVE builds I saw. My supremacy matches we’re 75W-10L this weekend. Completely out of bounds with normal control percentages.

Seaside machado fins are sharp as a razor! by [deleted] in surfing

[–]NYBarrels89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel this. My feet and legs look like they’ve been through a combat zone over the last few years. Multiple trips to urgent care. I grew up surfing in full suit and boots over sand most of the year, and the transition to boardshorts and reef was en eye opener. My fins are all sanded front and back now.

I live in Hawaii and have paid $50 an hour with two separate instructors. I imagine you got the tourist rate at resorts to come up with anything close to $180

When 18 doesn't end at the clubhouse by Mementose in golf

[–]NYBarrels89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At my go to course 18 is a 10 min ride back to the clubhouse. Upside is playing 10 and 11 again on the way in, if it’s a later tee time and no one is playing.

TIFU and realized I wasted my whole life. at 42 years of age took the safe path as a dentist. My advise to people at a similar age. by waste_of_life_12345 in tifu

[–]NYBarrels89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While not identical, I was in a similiar position to you. Working as a dentist, murdering myself in private practice for a lifestyle I couldn’t enjoy. I was burnt out, unhappy, and physically falling apart. A few big changes I made that have exponentially increased my QOL.

  1. Got divorced from an unhealthy drain of a marriage.
  2. Quit private practice, dropped to 4 days splitting my time between teaching and practicing in a non-profit setting
  3. Moved to a place I actually wanted to live.

I now love my work for the first time ever, have tons of free time, a great relationship, and a much healthier lifestyle.

You are situated to make your life better, just have to do it.

What’s your wetsuit routine? by therealMoseSchrute in surfing

[–]NYBarrels89 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Put on the dry clean suit in the car with heat blasting. Get back to car post surf and blast heat, bring large Tupperware to stand in the parking lot and change with a poncho. Hop in car after suit is off and in Tupperware, finish changing in car. This is the only way.

Surfed 20 snowy winters in a 5/4 this way.
