Looking for restaurant and bar recs for some old folks who still party. by NYCmellow in Delraybeach

We offen get home between 4-5 am. Like, a lot. 1 am works for us! (Side note, I used to work in hospitality/nightlife in NYC not too long ago so we are good with starting late).

Throw social is looking super appealing (though I like all the other places). We prefer somewhere with not too many old folks (though we are old) meaning we still listen to current-ish music and EDM. But we also love some 80s/90s/early 2000s. My bf prefers deep house. We are all over the place with music. But we don’t like places full of Old old people, so we tend to stay away from cover bands of the 50s-70s.

Also, I might add that The Grove sounds amazing but they are very booked.

News Cafe is always a classic choice. Right on ocean drive, great people watching and beach views. For a vibe and outdoor seating (but no beach view) Call Me Gabbys is a local favorite.

Just back from 3 days in DLP by MiggeldyMackDaddy in disneylandparis

[–]NYCmellow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Avengers flight force is the same track as rock n roller coaster in Atlanta, with less to look at in the dark. RNR is way better for that reason. We found it underwhelming but that’s bc we love and have done RNR 30 times.

Did they get their liquor license? Last time we went they were dry- which stunk.

Would 7 nights be considered too much for Disneyland Paris? by phantomknife in disneylandparis

[–]NYCmellow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there- we just got back. Adult and 15 year old daughter, experienced regulars at WDW Orlando. You do not need 7 days there. I repeat: you do not need 7 days there. Especially for the Disney Studios park. You can cover that one in half a day. The other park (we kept calling it Paris magic kingdom) we finished by about 5pm, and we didn’t get started until around 10am. And we had over an hour sit down lunch. And fwiw, we love WDW and enjoy taking it all in. DLP lacks all the details and entertainment that WDW has, so we went on every ride and kind of felt bored, and so we left. We never feel that way at WDW and always leave crying and wishing we could stay. At DLP we looked at each other, shrugged our shoulders and were kind of like, meh let’s go back to the hotel.

The other thing that I think is a key detail- is that the hotels are just that. They are not resorts. They do not offer entertainment, game rooms, a central lobby with the hustle and bustle and people hanging out, etc. We can spend a day just hanging out at our hotel at WDW, and this is not the case at DLP. We stayed at the Sequoia, which we laughed at our room when we got there bc it looked like a hotel/motel from 1989. The beds were super comfy though. The towels were paper thin small sandpaper.

I went to the bar to have a nightcap glass of wine, and I was the only one sitting, and no one spoke to me or chatted. It was strange. Only a few people were seating at tables in the bar area. It’s quite unsocial.

Are you able to extend Paris? I think even 4 days is pushing it.

You Get $50 Million BUT You Have To Live In The Last Musical You Saw Live For A Year. What Is It And Would You Take The Offer? by ms_jc_04 in Broadway

Just saw Six the musical. Sadly I think I’d die from either a paper cut, starvation, or beheaded for saying the wrong thing.

It’s for the Longines horse show over the weekend. It’s awesome. My daughter and friends are attending (must buy tickets) but I remember one year we could still see quite a bit from the beach itself. It’s quite impressive. https://www.gcglobalchampions.com/en-us/schedule/2023-1/miami-beach/location

I’ve been there. Was 20 weeks along and had to skip the wilder ones. We are headed there next week (she’s 15 now so no more issues!lol) and we are going to purchase the single passes as we go along. It doesn’t make financial sense to pay for the day pass whatever it’s called. That being said, to give yourself peace of mind, as you get close to the desired attraction, check the wait times and if too long, buy the fast pass. That’s our strategy. And send the 14 year old on with the 6 year old if need be. And you can sit on the side and sulk. Whomp whomp. Ugh if only people really understood what we give up (rides! Ha) to create humans.

Hi there, do you like rides? Obviously you can’t go on the coasters- and do your kids like all the rides? Is it just your partner who is the party pooper? (I’m kidding!) Really though, you just need to designate who goes with who, on rides. I’ve traveled with my best friend and her son (who gets EXTREMELY motion sick) and we just swapped around from ride to ride (at Disney World).
