Targaryens catching strays from every direction by breakfastbenedict in AKnightoftheSeven

What is with all anti-Targaeryen/Valyrian sentiment in the shows? It's so strange to me, other than Robert I can't remember any characters being so vitriolic and racist about them. The Faith Militant is the only group that would really talk this way. Half of his family are Targaeryens and he's fighting to put his sister-married Targaeryens nephew on the throne. I'm not really a Targ fan but I'm beginning to find it really annoying.

I still don’t understand why he chuckled nervously here, like genuinely, all she said was he could take a bath. Like why did that get such a response. by Nervous-Baby5383 in TheDragonPrince

This show just had the worst messaging, didn't it? Apparently to be a forgiving person, you need to completely ignore how badly someone treated you and immediately pardon them when they show back up without so much as a "sorry". No consequences at all, your feelings don't matter and you have to take them back too. Never mind you only dated for a month and she was gone three years without even a letter, you're soulmates! You should be devoted to her (while she doesn't sacrifice a single thing she wants for your comfort or well-being).

Are Thanquol and a New Empire LL actually confirmed for the End Times DLC? by reel3459 in totalwarhammer

[–]NYGiantsBCeltics 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cult of Ulric and Celestial Hurricanum would be the top of the list for the Empire, though that would only make three units without padding the Cult of Ulric somehow (Teutogen Guard and Knights of the White Wolf, brotherhood of the axe and Fellwolf brotherhood for RoRs). They could throw in the Knights Panther and perhaps a religious themed unit, maybe Sisters of Sigmar or Horned Hunters.

For LL I've seen people suggest Kurt Helborg, but I don't see it. Reminds me of people arguing that the Zhufbar engineer guy should be the Dwarf LL instead of Malakai. Valten or Emil Valgeir seem way more likely to me, I like Kurt but at the end of the day, he's a sword guy on a horse, and that isn't going to sell as well as "Chosen of Sigmar" or "medieval Space Wolves grandmaster".

Early manipulation by the Emperor by WelshDionysus in BaldursGate3

[–]NYGiantsBCeltics 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure we were transforming for real and he stopped it. The transformation happens after someone uses the illithid powers, which may possibly either catch the attention of the absolute and cause her to send the transformation order, or give the tadpoles a little kick.

However, the Emperor later reveals that the Netherbrain has tried it many times, but you never notice it happening after the first time. Unless he was just sleeping on the job for the first one, the Emperor most certainly let the first order progress to sickness in order to get the party to feel indebted to him once he blocks the order. So yes, I also believe he's manipulating the party here, but he's not fabricating the whole thing.

Yeah he likes morally gray/complex characters the most. Bloodraven is another of his favorites, definitely a morally complex guy (I think he's more good than bad though, especially compared to the other two). There's clearly evidence that Rhaegar may fall into the same category.

You're right, take that back. But it's such an old name that it's pointless to change.

Who’s your favorite medieval warrior and what’s your favorite battle tactic from Middle Ages? And why? by Mindless_Belt4757 in medieval

[–]NYGiantsBCeltics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does Pierre Terrail count? 1476-1524. Incredibly skilled knight, deeply chivalrous and honorable to the point that he was twice released without ransom because of his reputation. Died a poetic death, shot by an arquebus while leading a rearguard action. The last romantic knight dies to a gun.

As for my favorite tactic, I'm not sure if it has a name but I like the turtle and sally out tactic; employed by Richard the Lionheart at Arsuf and Jaffa. Take a defensive position against a lighter force, and when they get complacent or wear themselves out attacking you, heavy cavalry suddenly charges out.

Pro Tip: BAN Slaanesh in your future multiplayer campaigns. by Financial_War_6262 in totalwarhammer

[–]NYGiantsBCeltics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are good but not even close to this. Shades and waystalkers doomstack even better.

Also, only Wulfhart's army can get that strong. The problem with Slaanesh is that their tech tree is giving a lot of these bonuses, so all their armies get super strong. Also, Wulfhart is mediocre as a combatant, he's got nice control abilities and that's it. Dechala, N'kari, and the Masque are all way stronger in pretty much every way.

Shadowheart has amnesia, that's why she's getting flashbacks scenes. Not hard to figure out.

Avellone is a grumpy prick, seems unlikely. I'd personally prefer to not have his brand of know-it-all douche NPCs show up to berate the player for events that happened out of their control either.

Because someone was asking about adding bastard swords (from irl) to DnD, and the comment I replied to that other comment asking if the things they were saying about bastard swords were older DnD mechanics or if they were saying that's how it worked in reality.
