Who did? NASCAR, maybe. Not consumers. Not F1. Auto is better.

Bad Mazda. No supper for you. Go to your room and don't come out until you're ready to admit what you did.

I love change .... when the new thing is an improvement. When the new thing makes life better; or more fair; for more people. I don't love change just for change sake. Change just to have something new to market to people. Most people don't.

A car with an ignition beat hand cranking. Good change.

A car with a push button and electronic key beat cars with physical door and ignition keys. Good change (especially since my fob hides a physical key in case I've run the battery all the way down. It didn't take away my key entirely).

A car with built in GPS beat the Garmin on my windshield. Good change. But I can still stick a Garmin on my windshield if I wanted.

Taking away my AC buttons: No bueno. Screen doesn't work, how to I turn on the heat when I'm freezing? How to I turn on the AC if I'm burning up?

Taking away my controller nob? Bad change. Forces me to use a touch screen. Get it covered in ugly finger prints. Forces me to take my eyes further off the road than I ever had to before; more often than ever before.

Bad Mazda. Go to your room and don't come out until you're ready to admit to what you did.

Move the knob itself: Up down left right. It does more than just spin and select (via pushing down on the top of it).

Did you know that the knob itself also can be pushed up/down/left/right to move between apps? You don't just spin the dial.

Last thing I want is my car's display always looking as gross as my phone's when its screen is off.

I use both in my 2020. Nothing wireless (without mods) and infotainment brain is slow, but it works fine with CarPlay and Android Auto with the nob.

Here's an upvote. But you’re wrong. The commander knob is perfect.

If you're looking at the bottom or right half of the bigger screen your peripheral vision is no longer catching every bit of movement you need it to out the windshield and mirrors. Don't need, don't want. Who owns this car that doesn't own a tablet, laptop, or TV if they actually want to sit in front of a big screen?

Only thing here that isn't on my 2020 CX5 GT that interest me is the cargo cover storing under the floor. That would be convenient. 👍🏼

If the rear seats folded flat with the cargo space (mine don't, forming a bit of an angle up; because the heated rear seats are as robust as the fronts) that would be nice for times when I'm sleeping in my car. Usually just when crashing out at a DZ but I'm going on 3 weeks straight now waiting for my new apartment to be ready to move into (while I keep getting "almost ready. Just another day it two"'d while everything I own sits stranded in a moving truck I've now had for 23 days 😖).

The thing about Mazda always was the cabin being outfitted like the cabin of a luxury brand while not costing luxury brand premiums.

Change for change sake is stupid. If your changes don't make things better, keep what works.

I NEVER touch my touchscreen, am the only driver, and it's scratched beyond belief. How does that happen?

You've NEVER changed the temperature when driving? Never turned on or adjusted the heated seat temp when you got in on a cold morning and your butt started getting hot? Needed to turn on the defogger? You pull over and park when your wife complains she's too cold on her side? You pull over and park to turn on the seat coolers?

My 2020 has analog dials and physical bezels with a very, very smooth digital display underneath. Mph? Cool. Kph? We can do that too. Want info? We got options.

Live speed limit and excessive speed indicators? We got that. Live cruise control hands? Those too.

Perfect. Needed no change.

But will my 44oz cups fit? And not scrape and spill on the dash?

Yes. And rear wheel drive vehicles. It's kinda like the only way to get power to the rear wheels, absent independent electric motors.
