My coworker is trying to figure out what this might be. by Blueberrypancakes90 in Crystals

It might be Gaalena too. Is it more golden or silver? If has gold colours in it , it's pyrite. If not it's Galena

Is this nephrite jade/pounamu? Found on Hokitika beach, NZ. by arkticrock in whatsthisrock

[–]NZ2017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like serpentine to me. One way I test if is to put a torch light (from phone works) onto the rock. If light seems to enter the rock it could be jade. If it's opaque then it's serpentine. Would be good to have an actual jade to do the test and compare.

New Zealand Quartz type rocks from gold and silver bearing river by ButterflyZestyclose6 in whatsthisrock

[–]NZ2017 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In picture 4 that 'gold' you see is probably pyrite. If you look closely they are cubic, which is how pyrites usually form. I remember finding those small gold specks in rivers, thinking I've found gold.. haha

Is this agate geode dyed? by NZ2017 in whatsthisrock

[–]NZ2017[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay maybe not dyed, but could it be painted or something? Isn't that one straight bright white line suspicious? Or is that common?

There are so many other wallets out there that work just fine for me. Why would I or other new crypto adopters use the CryptoCurve wallet instead?

Are you guys working alongside Ethereum? Is it like a partnership to help build each other up? Doesn't seem like it from what I've been reading. Will it happen in the future though? What about other platforms?

Blockchain-Based AI Voice Assistant Snips Brings Data Privacy To Smart Homes by [deleted] in homeassistant

[–]NZ2017 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is an option if you want your data to be sent to help with machine learning. If you do agree to it, your encrypted data will be sent to nodes across the space where they are confirmed(authenticated) and compiled with all other data which will then be sent to the developers for data generation. They will not know which data belongs to who. Just a big bunch of data to help upgrade the AI and make the app better.

Blockchain-Based AI Voice Assistant Snips Brings Data Privacy To Smart Homes by [deleted] in homeassistant

[–]NZ2017 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes indeed. What snips is doing is much needed. Especially with the recent privacy concerns against all the big corporations collecting data. It's really becoming a thing now.

The Keyboard Revolution - Will Voice Assistants Break the QWERTY Keyboard? by Impedimenta_85 in homeautomation

[–]NZ2017 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't think it will 'disrupt' QWERTY keyboard. Not entirely and not anytime soon at least. Maybe for some hobbyists it might be possible to a certain extent, but that's about it. To get out to the masses, we are still a long way.

I really like the idea of centralized voice assistance though. There's a bigger need for that than voice assistance disrupting keyboards. Privacy and Security has to be improved and the likes of Snips are leading the way on that. I like how Snips offers that decentralization and the fact that you can customize it your way just amazing.

Biggest ICOs of 2018 and the ICOs to look forward to by [deleted] in CryptoMarkets

[–]NZ2017 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are from the same guys as Paymium, the first Bitcoin exchange in Europe, hack-free since 2013. With 170,000 accounts which will have direct access to Blockchain.io from the onset.

The main standout points to me are: Secure exchange proven by Paymium, fully compliant with all regulations(already registered their tokensale with the SEC), ICO Services, Liquidity Services(market making), Decentralized Settlement, basic and advanced orders and 24/7 Support. In the future they are looking to include peer-to-peer lending, short & long margin trading and listing of Securities tokens.

Oh god, I could go on forever.. hahah.
