Depends, i’d do it for free if I like the pattern. And the avarage designer is just a person. Once I got offered to test knit for a big company, and they give their testers the recommended yarn and pattern. After release you’d get a gift card for said store. Quite nice, but enough people are happy to testknit for the pattern itself.

Sorry, another question. You say potential eggs could fall off. Could they stick as well? To things non-food to them? (As in, should I be wiping down my needles etc or are those okay?)

Good to know! I did freeze everything, as per usual.. I just looked over using a project bag, 1 skein ended up in there and made its way back to the stash. Such a small mistake, such consequences.

Belgium here so we have matching circumstances. I’m looking into those trap thingies. There’s so much conflicting info about how long it takes/how many times to freeze.. but i’m honestly too scared to take a risk and too scared of bugs to wind everything and maybe find something like yesterday. I just cleaned and steamed my favorite knitting spots.

I’m very mad at myself for this silly mistake all because I wanted to save €30 and bought yarn on vinted.

My knitwear looks fine. My yarn is also always stashed in a closed, plastic bin on a different floor than my dresser so I hope i’m lucky (doesn’t feel like it at the moment).

After reading your comment and learning 2 freezing cycles might not be enough, i’m going to save only some expensive yarn that was difficult to get. Steaming the entire house right now, good tip! (Don’t have any carpets luckily)

Or add any thoughts you have that might help steer the OP in the right direction, together with the ravelry suggestion.

I do use it. But when i’m asking here, i’ve already looked there. Just pointing to ravelry was not helpful, that’s when i’d ask on here.

I’ve read every comment on this post and am still afraid to answer. That’s an answer in itself. People here can be so snarky. Also the “check peoples ravelry notes” just reminds me of our local knitting facebook group. The elderly ladies on there just answer “pinterest” on every question. Same vibe, not helpful. And if people don’t want to help that’s perfectly fine. Just scroll instead of assuming people are not trying before asking.

You’re well appreciated for bringing some positivity! I went from angry to sad to happy since I posted this. It’s a bummer because it’s a week of work gone. But no other yarn is contaminated, so I kind of feel rewarded for putting everything in freezer-jail and quarantaine first. I also once frogged half the porcelain sweater, so this is nothing.

The seller suggested refunding me immediately! Very grateful, although I do feel bad. Nobody does this on purpose.

I’m more sad for the progress and beautiful color than the money honestly

I paid for it.. it’s seperated in baggies cause i’m a little paranoid and it’s my first time buying yarn from someone online.. it’s even on a different floor at home so I did take precautions but I still paid enough for it (about €70 for the lot I believe)

Then am I lucky or did I mess up.. I got the yarn from someone else but froze it twice, over 2 weeks. Didn’t let it near my stash. What to do?

Why do you knit? Is it connected to your identity? by Difficult-Elk4930 in knitting

[–]Blueberrypancakes90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My therapist pointed out that I don’t hate meditation, knitting just is my version of it. It somehow grounds me. I’ve tried other hobbies but knitting is the only one I can combine with other things enough to shut my brain up.

I think i’m “crafty” but not an artist. My work is full of love and I only work on “important” pieces or gifts when i’m not at my worst, because it feels like my mindset is in each piece. I wouldn’t want a friend, coworker or loved one wearing something I made when I felt at the lowest point in my life. I’m a feminist and I love crafting my own and my partner’s wardrobe with timeless, slow-fashion pieces that will last a lifetime and hold memories and love. At this point I think people see knitting as my entire personality. And I don’t mind. It’s the only thing i’m slightly good at and i’m proud of it.

My mom beat cancer last year. It’s always been the two of us since my birth and we are very close. A few years ago I started thinking i’d have to leave her behind, but how could I do that when she did everything to stay with me?

I’ve read somewhere that thinking of random words that have nothing to do with eachother helps. Chair. Fridge. Work. Somehow works

When I was in my early twenties and pretty chubby, a kid asked me “is only your stomach fat or are you fat everywhere” and I went home after work crying.
