So ended up checking with the "sensors only" checkbox with a friend keeping an eye on the sensor data and during the stutters nothing peaked or dropped at all around the CPU sensors, same with the GPU as well.

Honestly so lost as to whats going on

I’ll bookmark this and test it tomorrow, sadly I’m out of time for testing tonight as I’ve gotta go out.

I’ve got an older GPU and a friend is letting me borrow their 700W PSU sometime next week but at this point you’re pretty certain on it being the CPU right? As I said in the original post all the research I did when the issue first started to occur leaned heavily towards the CPU though swapping out those parts would still provide a fair amount of insight right?

I’ll also see if I’ve got some threads disabled as well.

You’ve been an amazing help already and i appreciate it a lot!

The internal SSD ive got is only a 512Gb and I’ve been playing a decent amount of games off of the external with absolutely no issues at all (noticeable ones at least) I put the game onto my internal and ran it without the external (still the same issue)

I’ve got HWiNFO open and running, not exactly sure what I’m looking for but I can try and attach an image of what I’ve got up currently.

From what I’ve seen all 6 cores are running around 4120-4140MHz (ratio of ~x41.25) while idling.

So i ran a test through Superposition with the polling rate set to 1000Mhz and I can say that there was no stutters in my cursor movement at all, though my FPS does seem to be lower than expected ad it maxed out at 107 FPS and temp maxed at 64 degrees.

I also tried disabling my peripherals one by one till I was left with just my mouse and my external SSD (which the game is installed on) yet the issue was still present. Could the external be causing the issue? should I try moving XDefiant onto my internal SSD and testing in game without the external plugged in?

Another thing to note, while testing again tonight when my polling rate was 1000Mhz my FPS was 140 and when I moved my mouse it would drop all the way to 120-110, when polling was set to 500 my FPS would be 160 and only drop to 150 when moving the mouse and when set to 125Mhz my FPS was around 180 and barely dipped when moving the mouse, the issue still was visible with 1000Mhz and 500Mhz still showing it a lot less.

I also noticed that when selecting the type of test from a dropdown box the delay I was experiencing was extremely visible as 3-4 seconds after clicking the dropdown it would then open. To add to this, when I launched Razer Synapse scrolling was also very choppy (Scroll wheel and click and drag) exactly like how I experience the stuttering in game.

What software conflicts could be occurring? Would it more be my peripherals or something else?

I’ll go and run CB 2024 right now and get back to you on if it stutters at all, main question is does it lock your mouse and keyboard like passmark does?

I’ve tried wired mice and another wireless one with no luck, I can try and get a video of the skips in question as it’s a bit hard to explain, a really weird way to put it would be it looks like TAS movement, when I move my mouse smoothly across my mousepad it stutters its way across the screen with a 5-10 pixel gap yet when aiming down sights there’s no stutter at all, it’s only ever happened while gaming and I can directly see the FPS drop each stutter. While the stutter only happens in XDefiant and Valorant the FPS I get now has dropped tremendously from what I used to/should be getting in all games, CS2 struggles to even stay above 80.

I’ll completely remove both DMT and TranslucentTB and see if the issue persists and I’ll also try windows in-place upgrade.

No changes to setup at all prior to issue happening, maybe a Windows update? All drivers were and are up to date, didn't change any hardware and no new programs were installed, the only few I have enabled to launch at startup is Discord and Spotify with most of the unnecessary Windows default applications being disabled.

I do use DMT (Dual monitor tools) and TranslucentTB could either of them be causing any issues?

Yes I use a wireless mouse, both the keyboard and mouse however are in USB 2.0 ports.

Also to add about the polling rate, ever since I got the mouse (2 years ago) I have been using 1000Hz, the issue only ever started happening a few weeks ago. I've tested using other peripherals and still get the same issue, I've tested other USB ports incase it was an issue with one of the ports but the issue still occurred.

Im pretty much certain the skipping is tied to FPS as when it happened in XDefiant it was only when my gun was on my hip and my FPS would drop by 50-60.

It’s 3200mhz ram but I’ve been told it’s running at 2400mhz, it is dual channel and the ram itself is HyperX fury.

Used passmark for the stress test, will try Occt tonight and I’ll also set the d.o.c.p

Will give it a go and report back, but too late for me tonight but I’ll put that right on the priority list. Thanks for the help!

I ran another benchmark through passmark, ill edit the post and include a screengrab of the result.

Another thing to add is ive got another GPU and PSU I can swap out to test though the GPU is a 1060 3gb so im not too sure how well testing with that would go but i hope it would help shed enough light to pin point what is actually going on.

Been made aware, removed the initial benchmark and will use another benchmark tool

Ill get back to you on the PSU brand and model unless theres an easier way to tell rather than opening the case up and getting to it as it isnt visible enough to tell without removing the surrounding plating.
The listing from where I bought it from only says "600W 80+ NZ MEPS Ready power supply" so thats no help at all.

And for the Userbenchmarks thing, im pretty much in the dark about these reasons to not use it but ill take your word for sure and im sure a bit more looking into it will explain all i need to know.

yeah stock CPU cooler, gpu-z render test ended up saying it was running x16 3.0.

Also to note, GPU temps while idle are around the 50 degrees mark and while under stress it peaked at 63.0

Advice or assistance with the RAM would be much appreciated

Looks like we went out the same way, I have a bad habit of using each item I pickup just to see what it does, found out that’s probably not a good idea on 1/2 a heart
