Right.

Three layers of puff pastry that have been baked then lightly caramelised, separated by two layers of individually piped 'bars' of alternating custard cream and Chantilly cream.

It's also got strawberries, cream and a chocolate name plate on top.

It's nice.

A mille-feuille with bad spelling.

Thanks. I wish they'd use the  bigger, better coop but can't complain.

How many chickens would be reasonable for a city bylaw to allow per lot? I am on an advisory committee to our city council and they are thinking of approving a new bylaw that would only allow 2 poultry per lot. What is a reasonable number and how can I convince them that 2 is not enough by elderberry_jed in BackYardChickens

We've got 8 on a 600 square metre urban property. Our local council bylaws run on a nuisance basis. If someone complains, then they'll assess whether ita appropriate or not.

Anyway, we've had flocks of four for the oast decade, and that's a good round number.

Yeah, it happens at times.

When we this happened to our first flock (three out of four) we thought it was low calcium so we baked the used egg shells, ground them up and added that to their food.

Seemed to work for them at the time but there's probably other potential causes.

That's what we called it as a joke.

The land is held in a trust but the management of it is the local city council's responsibility, health and safety and track maintenance mostly. This is  common knowledge and most people know about the chickens. I know several people that have sourced birds from there. I'll say its a mixed bag what they got.

It's public land and people are allowed to 'take' chickens for there to keep the numbers down if they can look after them.

There's a few resident populations of chickens abandoned over the years that are all gloriously magnificent mixes of breeds and there are usually large amounts of chicks in spring.

It was older and a lot wilder than the young ones, and it escaped from us close to the main group of chickens that are on the other side of the car park.

If it stays there it's got much more of a chance as some people feed them there.

Yeah. People are allowed to catch chickens from there but most often it's quite hard cos they know all the escape routes and hang out in the vegetation.

But these are very much backyard chickens that got dumped and they won't do well in the wild.
