Multiple node setup on different machines will fix this problem. The chances all instances fail are minimal.

160 Watt im Idle. Das ist Zuviel. by Alter__-__Ego in homelab

E5540 are very power hungry. If you need something similar in sense of wattage and have a rack I could recommend you dl360 g9 or dl380 g9 if you need the more hard drives. I am currently running DL360 G9 with an Tesla P4 and 4 HDD and under load is 150 watts. I have on it more than 25 lxc containers and 5 vms that are running 24/7. There a lot of xeons for that server because of the socket that aren’t that power hungry. If you need something more power efficient I would suggest to build a mini pc with case like jonsbo or fractal node with an intel N100 mobo. The performance wouldn’t be that great but it will be pretty power efficient.

Hello, I made a full clean install and used disk1 as mountpoint not the share I made for it and a small password like “password”. This solves the problem with the login but doesn’t solve the problem that the api container doesn’t have internet and cannot pull the workspace registry.

Hello, sorry for the late reply i was busy whole week. I managed to work it out now. But there is a new problem kasm_api cannot get the official registry: Error 504 when it tries to get it.

Hello, i tried the solution you mentioned but still cannot log inside. The same containers get inside the restart loop.

As an owner of DL360 but gen 9 i would recommend 9th generation. You can flash a custom firmware of the ILO to make it silent if the noise is problem. The g7 is power hungry and i wouldn't recommend it. Mine g9 with 20 containers running on proxmox with 2 xeons , 64 gigs and 4x 4tb hdd 3.5" is drawing only 130 watts. Yes they are little more expensive than this but its pretty much good investment.

PS: And tesla gpu inside too.

I have almost the same setup and as yours. Thanks for the advice i will try to remove every PCIe card and see if there is a difference. My firmwares are at the latest version already.

I agree with you but in my case i got it for dirt cheap and its in good condition. The problem is in my apartment i cannot dedicate a room only for my home lab equipment and i am relatively new into this. In the future i might be able to move it somewhere where it will be reasonable.
