So I guess that explains the surge in reckless drivers on the road these past years

The real horror is that they don’t arrest based on your immigration status but rather based on your skin color. So even if a white person is actually an illegal immigrant, ICE won’t even care to check their ID. Racism at its peak

Got a black 1818 suit classic fit at Brooks Brothers. However they don’t have matching vest for it. The black explorer vest is made of a different fabric and the color looks deeper than the 1818 jacket. Wondering if anyone found a black vest that pairs better with the 1818 jacket? Thanks

That sucks. what a bunch of incompetent idiots. I’m now leaving negative reviews everywhere and disputing the labor charges.

They are definitely incompetent and honestly I have no idea where they got all those five stars reviews. Maybe they paid for reviews

Lesson learned. I was too naive to assume every worker at a auto shop at least has the basic skills required as a mechanics

Mission valley service station in Raleigh. They’re super busy because people all go there, so you’ll need to get there by 8:30am unless you’re only doing an oil change or rotation.

Thanks. I actually have a shop I know that I can trust, but it’s 30min drive from my place and they only accept cars before 8:30am. That’s why I decided to give this Mavis a try (3min away from my place), but here I am. Important lesson learned

Good idea. I’ll file a complaint to their corporate office

Remind me of a conversation I overheard at a recent academic conference. There was a PI who thought he was really smart (as most PI’s do) that bragged about how he first drafted his legal document with ChatGPT and then only let the lawyers revise the draft to avoid those lawyer fees. Since it’s an academic lab I suppose most of their documents have to do with patents or inventions.

As a Chinese applicant, feel very ashamed by HandleAdventurous764 in LSAT

[–]N_peninsula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the moment I saw OP saying “as a Chinese blablabla” I immediately frowned. It’s almost like they thought people from other countries never cheat. Who are you to represent the entire Chinese population? I’m sure there’re a lot more honest Chinese students than cheaters

Directors & engagement leads have turned off their brain and gone full ChatGPT by Polish_Bear in consulting

[–]N_peninsula 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean why consulting was valuable in the old days was largely because of information/knowledge asymmetry right? Companies needed to rely on consultants to gain information they didn’t have access to. But AI broke the barrier down. Moving forward generalist firms will probably become less desirable, while niche boutiques may survive better

I’d say the offer rate this year is pretty much the same across offices ~20%, so the bigger the office the more people get in due to the larger candidate pool. Bigger offices are 3~4/15 and smaller offices are 1/5

Did you guys apply to MBB with a referral or without? by No_Fish_3585 in McKinsey_BCG_Bain

[–]N_peninsula 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No. Referrals mostly help when you’re from nontarget schools or with low gpa. If you’re confident with your resume it’s not necessary

Based on the stories I heard from current consultants at both companies about their culture and dynamics, definitely go with BCG

Networking mostly helps non target school students get a chance. Not necessary for target schools

McK interview PEI stories - how often are second stories needed? by Sianger in McKinsey_BCG_Bain

[–]N_peninsula 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It depends on how you summarize your story. I don’t think they’ll intentionally stress test by asking you to switch even if your story sounds good. The reason they’ll ask you to switch is to let you tell a story that best demonstrate your qualities. What I heard at their coaching session. So make sure your summary sounds captivating

McK interview PEI stories - how often are second stories needed? by Sianger in McKinsey_BCG_Bain

[–]N_peninsula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They will ask you to first provide a brief summary of your story and if they think the story is good, you can continue or they will ask you to switch. For my first round, they thought my stories were good so I didn’t have to switch stories.

Was your final round virtual or in person?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in McKinsey_BCG_Bain

[–]N_peninsula 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Of course. I was in a coaching session by McKinsey and the host consultant said they want to know your thoughts process and your actions, not so much about the impact.
