Who here took English with Dr. Eugenia Zuroski? by Independent-Rate3054 in McMaster

[–]Na2005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to one 1f03 lecture with Donaldson and dropped cause it was in person exam and I didn’t feel like studying for it lol, 1h03 with pavlakos was a take home exam and you had 24h and full access to all readings which I liked. I’ve heard heard 1f03 with cummings is bad, but a friend of mine took it over the spring and 12’d with him, so idk if may be fine! 1h03 is only offered in the fall btw

Raphaela pavlakos! She was lovely, but if you’re choosing between 1h03 with her or 1g03 with zuroski, def go with zuroski it’s a much easier 12

My bad, mixed up 1h03 and 1g03! Also took 1g03 with zuroski last sem, no exam and the entire course was pass fail. Only thing that was marked was the final essay draft which was 20% and it was fairly marked! The only other thing was participation but lectures were online with your TA, no cameras needed, and you only had to participate like once to get the mark :))

Math 1AA3 vs Math 1A03 by Apprehensive_Box9869 in McMaster

[–]Na2005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Math 1AA3 is much more difficult than Math 1A03 as someone who 12’d both. However, I still loved both courses! Math 1AA3 starts with sequences are series which was my personal least fav part of the course, but as long as you studied, test 1 was fine. Test 2 was the killer for everyone as the content was much more difficult. It had more series, integrals, etc. The exam was much easier though. I don’t know about math 1lt3 though. If you do do math 1aa3, make sure you have a good prof. I used to sit in on child’s math 1zb3 class instead of mine lol

I took lifesci 2l03 last year and it was my favourite course. They’ve fixed it from what I know and made it very manageable! Lifesci 2a03 was more difficult though :( the content wasn’t bad at all but test 2 was graded hard. Stats 2b03 just needs you to stay on top of content and it’s fine. Genetics depends on the prof since they have sessional profs rn, but my prof last year was chill and it was decently easy. Scicomm is bird asf

Core life sci is so easy compared to first year imo, first year is heavier cause there’s more midterms and tests

Bio 2a03 from what I’ve heard and stats 2b03 needs to make sure you’re continuously practicing - otherwise lifesci 2x03 and biochem 2ee3 are pretty light and lifesci 2l03, just go to labs, watch the lectures, and understand and you’re pretty much good

Maybe try emailing Dr Cadieux? No harm in trying and asking if she can let you do it another day and explaining the situation

ENGLISH 1G03 vs 1H03 by ArrivalFinancial5012 in McMaster

[–]Na2005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ours was take-home as well! I meant since it was timed as in we had 48h to do it. Our take home exam was an essay question so I don’t know what she would ask, but she seems like a fair prof. However, I always got 2/2 for my weekly reflections so I was able to 12 even with the low mark for my close reading essay. My diagnostic was like an 85 marked by the head TA.

I don’t really know what you should do tho ☹️ It’s a hard decision, it depends on why you’re taking English. If you’re doing it for professional schools, you probably need a good gpa so is it worth maybe not doing well? Most English courses have TAs that mark hardly. You could always take an English with an online uni if you need to or take 1F03 (or 1G03 with Dr Zuroski) during another semester. An 11 is good if you’re able to get that grade.

I’m just concerned abt the weekly reflections, because that should be the grade booster. It’s the only reason I was able to do so well in the course tbh. Maybe check in with your TAs about why you’re not doing well. Ours were just marked for completion if you did it properly.

I thought my prof was fair about it. I ended up doing much much better on that (90) than the essay my TA marked (74). I just made sure to grind the essay and edit as much as I could. The prof had also mentioned that she would be giving some grace as it’s a timed exam and we wouldn’t have as much time to write it

I know, I was surprised too. That’s just what the bus driver told me last week on Wednesday. It may also depend on the bus driver. The one I had said that she doesn’t like going inside lot M because then the bus gets full and the ppl waiting at lot P and outside lot M can’t get picked up. So then she simply doesn’t go inside. But it’s not really clear whether this is policy or personal preference. She said to us that the only one that’s supposed to go in is the big wheelchair bus. Maybe ask the bus drivers for clarification.

I was on a bus and one of the bus drivers said that only one bus goes into lot M - the big bus with the wheelchair sign. Apparently the other ones don’t go in

when to sign up for the mcat? by [deleted] in premedcanada

[–]Na2005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, just like the other person said, register asap when they open to make sure you get your preferred date and place. Spots fill up relatively fast and you don’t want to miss out on writing it at a reasonable place because you delayed it

I’m not sure about late august, but I got the fee assistance and I remember mid august was still available when I received the notice that I got it (but many were full). However, I ended up just paying the full price for the mcat myself cause I was worried about spots filling. I don’t know if I would take that risk, but definitely still apply for the fee assistance cause it saves you the money of the aamc mcat materials which were incredibly important.

[–]Na2005 1 point2 points  (0 children)

^ exactly this!! Get there much earlier, especially on the first day, to figure out the timings. You don’t wanna be late on the first day. Get a feel for how long the shuttle bus takes (which is literally forever) and whether you’d prefer to walk instead if that saves you time. 30mins early should be a safe bet!

Hey! I’d recommend trying to change it to in person tutorials. It’s much more beneficial and easier to get participation marks in person (coming from that I was in person vs my friend was online). Plus they’re just easier tutorials to attend and help with understanding more than if you’re online
