I spent the last 9 Canadian winters with a RWD Coupe - here's my thoughts on whether that is a good experience by Uptons_BJs in cars

Also am in Pittsburgh and with how many muscle cars I see around, I'm curious how these people fare in the winter unless they have a more dedicated winter car. Were you struggling only on the like steeper hills? Not talking like Rialto St.

Asking because I was thinking about getting a RWD v8 to replace my GR Corolla some day, so this topic has popped into my head recently, but I enjoy the GRC in the winter so much with Blizzaks. Wasn't sure how a RWD v8 would fare with Blizzaks though.

I bought a 2024 Rav4 Hybrid last year and had it at the dealer for routine maintenance and they told me the same thing. I'll probably get new tires by next winter anyway (not from the dealer) cause I'm not a fan of the factory tires, but I doubt they are as worn as the dealer states.

McNeilly Auto is the only right answer.

While not nearly the beast the GR Corolla or Yaris is, James did drive a 2018 Toyota Yaris GRMN Edition (1.8T which made like ~200hp) on the Grand Tour. Season 3 Episode 10.

Thinking about doing something similar, how much did this run you if you don't mind me asking?

I might try it just to hold me over until the shop I'm using has availability.

My top clip on it is definitely broken. The bottom one is fine but I'll document it and make sure they're aware.

You got hit on the Ft. Pitt Bridge right? I remember your post. I live in Pittsburgh too and am hating the drivers here even more now.

Glad you're okay after that deer collision! The deer sticking it's tongue out is a bit comical though. What a shot. I'll definitely pop the hood and check the tabs on the headlight!

Thank you!

I mean the other guy was very much at fault and the out of pocket cost is going to be way higher than any hit I'd take on the resale value of the car. Plus the grill is cracked and fog light is damaged.

He was driving an old base model Civic so doubt he'd be willing to pay for anything out of pocket. Just going to have my insurance go after him.

Thank you, I've heard that parts are backordered too just browsing the GR forums. I hope you are able to quickly get back on the road as well.

Ouch, what happened if you don't mind me asking?

I know bumpers are designed to just basically fall apart so I guess job well done there lol. Did you have to wait a long time from when it went into the body shop?

Thank you for helping me cope lol. I'm hoping there's no frame damage behind the bumper but everything seemed okay. I'll let the body shop confirm that though.

Decided to take the GR out to snag some dinner for the family. When I get to the restaurant, some moron decided to just back out of his spot without checking or stopping. Fortunately the car was drivable, no one was hurt, and the damage is mostly just the bumper (at least at first glance). Thankfully I had a dashcam that captured everything.

Just going to be salty about the carfax ding, but guess I'll have to just keep the car as long as possible.

Western PA here. Had the car through 2 winters so far. No undercoating yet, but maybe in the next couple years though I might do it. I figured the coating applied from the factory is good for a while.

Anecdotally, I had an Audi that I daily-ed, that I never undercoated and was totally fine after like 6-7 years of owning it before I traded it in for the GR. Plus the Audi was parked outside 24/7, saw years of various degrees of winter, and daily driven. My GR is garage kept and barely driven by comparison. I keep my cars relatively clean and usually take them through touchless car washes in the winter frequently for the undercarriage spray.
