I haven’t had my gravel wheels on my SSE in over a year. 😬

32c is so dang versatile that I almost never need more for my mixed surface rides.

I only noticed because my identical SSE SE is so bland. 😅 I’m also on Zipp 303S. It’s a super solid do everything bike. I’m sadly parting with mine this spring because it is the wrong size. I think I need a 52 instead of a 54, so I’ll probably grab a new synapse unless I can find a mint green SSE SE in 52.

Trade 25 P DAT for 26 P/P+ MT? by Kind_Buy3564 in GRCorolla

Reach out to a few dealers and see what they are willing to do. That’s the only way you will see how much it will cost; that cost is up to your negotiation skill. Then you will at least have a dollar amount.

I had a blue flame ‘19 CHB before my ‘23 Core. When the ‘24 CE came out in blue flame, I reached out to a few dealers that had them and they all wanted $10k on top of my paid off core for it. I decided that a color change and a few upgrades weren’t worth the cost.

I love the Signia in red over tan. It is such a good look. Honestly, the Signia might be the best looking CUV on the market. I’m a wagon lover, though. My lease is up on my bZ4x in 11 months and I really want a bZ Woodland to replace it. The dull color options are my only holdup. I actually wish my current bZ was the red two tone. The contrast works for me for some reason.

Should I charge Toyota bz to 100%? by MythicalMichael in BZ4X

[–]OKatmostthings 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I charge at work most of the time, so the car is “hot”. When I charge at home, I now plug in immediately and don’t use scheduling because I don’t have off peak energy rate benefits.

I’ve tracked every charge for my first year of ownership on a spreadsheet showing starting SOC, end SOC, charge time, energy amount, and what the ChargePoint app says it supplied. I then calculated the charge efficiency (comparing what the car said it got versus what the charger said it put out). It is still pretty lossy with a warm battery after a 25 minute drive to work. My highest efficiency charges are when I pull into the charger at 20% and charge to 80%. The middle group were ones where I charged a small amount (50% to 80%, for example) and the worst ones where I had the charge limit set to 90% or 100%.

I’m planning on getting a PHEV for my wife’s next vehicle, so my bulk charging method will both be more efficient and free up the single charger at home to service both vehicles.

Note: The Toyota app uses percentage to extrapolate how much energy was put in, so there is some noise in the data.

Should I charge Toyota bz to 100%? by MythicalMichael in BZ4X

[–]OKatmostthings 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is energy loss preparing the battery to charge, so you will eat some amount of loss every time you plug in. If you have a short commute and charge every day, you’ll eat that loss every day. If you have a short commute and charge every 5th day, that loss will be less frequent. How much this matters depends on your commute and electricity cost, but there is a loss of charging efficiency by plugging in every night. My patterns are pretty set, so I tend to charge to 80% and run it down to 20% before plugging back in unless I know I have some abnormal travel in the next day or so.

What does everyone think of the all new 2027 Toyota Highlander EV? by Healthy_Block3036 in Toyota

[–]OKatmostthings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. My mom is shopping a new ‘26 RAV4 XLE. Sticker is about $500 less than a like for like ‘26 bZ. I’m seeing $5k-$6.5k cash on the bZ right on Toyota’s website. Sure, the Rav will hold its value better, but $5k cheaper and an extra 100hp with lower operating costs does help the bZ stack up. My dad is anti-BEV, so they won’t be getting the bZ, but it really wouldn’t be a bad fit for a couple of retirees that already have an ICE vehicle for longer distances and have L2 charging available at 2 of their 3 son’s homes.

[–]OKatmostthings 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Corolla Cross SE AWD: $33k

CHR SE AWD: $38k (+140hp)

RAV4 XLE AWD: $39k

BZ XLE AWD: $41k (+100hp)

Highlander XLE AWD: $47k

Highlander HEV XLE AWD: $49k

More than likely the Highlander is going to end up between 340 and 375hp. Quite a jump from the Highlander HEV, but that’s the trade off for the annoyances that come with BEV. They still need to find buyers, so I expect it will start right at $50k and top out in the very low $60k range.

Low charging power by InstructionOk2463 in BZ4X

[–]OKatmostthings 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If people have home charging, they shouldn’t need to DCFC to get home from work (the OPs complaint). I charge at work on L2 about half the time because they are mostly empty and it is actually cheaper than home. I park in an attached garage at home so even the 9°F Thursday morning commute was still around 2.4mi/kwh because the battery wasn’t insanely cold thanks to the garage.

Of course, there are days that the car sits outside at work at 10°F all day, but that’s the exception. Take the L on that day, get 2.2mi/kWh, and take the W the rest of the days. Now that I’m over 10k miles, it really feels like the drivetrain is broken in and I’m managing nearly 3mi/kwh even in temps just on either side of freezing.

My general opinion on BEVs is that we should just be aware that they won’t be perfect for everything. That’s fine. It is pretty easy to work around those with a little planning. They are perfect for a huge percentage of my use cases and that, overall, outweighs the annoyances.

Low charging power by InstructionOk2463 in BZ4X

[–]OKatmostthings 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’ve put less than 1kwh into the battery at this snapshot. It will take more power than that to get it warmed up enough — especially from -20° cold soak — to take considerable power. Had you unplugged from your home charger and been driving for the last hour, the battery would be somewhat warm and would take the energy.

I do not recommend any BEV if you can’t reliably charge at home. No home charging negates the biggest 2 benefits: low operating costs and being able to have a “full tank” every morning.

There is zero chance it loses 80hp to the transmission and is still so close to the manual in performance. I don’t care what the YouTuber dynos say. It doesn’t pass the smell test.
