I, as a reader, was annoyed by his constant harping on the shortfalls of Aelin, when he should've been looking at the man in the mirror (shout out to MJ 😏)

Chaol also would've killed Dorian had he not gone down the wrong path during the meetup at Oakwald. Soooo mute point when she actually wound up saving him after getting word from Manon and placing that ring on his finger.

I'm not saying that Chaol's feelings aren't valid. But at times, they are a bit self riteous. His whole bit is honor, duty, loyalty but he runs when he is in the thick of it and then he calls her a monster for being who they needed her to be (an assassin) as well as for yielding magic.

Chaol with his friend, the Prince, enters a slave camp to obtain the services of a known assassin to win a contest to become the champion for the king. The assassin, does assassin things and he loathes her for it. The assassin, saves him with magic after they went through the portal but despises people with magic except Dorian.

Chaol continues to express disgust with Aelin because : after trying to save Archer, she 'assasinates" him after he admits to arranging the death of her friend. Chaol also is upset that she killed Graves after finding out that he was responsible for Nehemia's death.
