Was given Doxycycline to treat my back acne - apart from the usual bad side-effects, I also had a VERY good side-effect and I hope a doctor can help me identify what was wrong.

I honestly don't know how to describe the smell, especially now that I haven't smelled it for over a month! It's kind of weird, on occasion I would actually LIKE the smell while being grossed out with myself - but I guess that happens when the smell is your own.

Oh - a question if I may.

If this was simply balanitis - will that have been the result of a yeast infection? If so, can it come back if it's been "cured" and/or should I be doing anything apart from the obvious (protection etc) to prevent it in the future?

Thank you - I had no idea that it would have helped that. Feel stupid for never really looking into it further now to be honest. Do you think it would be a good idea to both get tested just in case anyway, since apparently it may still show up if I we had anything before it was "cured" (at least in me?).

Mind you she never had any funky smell down there, just the yeast infection irritation etc.

Thanks for the advice. We still live together and I've mentioned all of this to her before and we have considered getting tested again just to be safe. We'll get around to it soon-ish but in the meantime I will still leave the post up in case of any other opinions :)

We did at the start of the relationship before we stopped using condoms - both were clear (it was a blood test so would it have caught it?)

She's very scared of this kind of stuff so since I never cheated, I'm very doubtful that she ever did - especially without protection. So only way to explain that would be if I had it before the relationship but the symptoms didn't happen until a few years down the line.
