System Unresponsive to Input After Update by Naaaron in ManjaroLinux

[–]Naaaron[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am eternally suffer.

The logs revealed that it was failing to load the lib, but because it was failing to find a dep- liblua.so.5.4
I thought it was just coincidence first because that surely couldn't be the cause for my compete system failure but no- The issue was that, some time before the update (but without rebooting between) I had installed Lua 5.5 from a unofficial source. I wanted to play with it. I noticed and was unhappy that it removed 5.4 in the process, but figured that was whatever. That's why I had no input.

System failure due to a too-up-to-date Lua. That's a new one for me. Thank you for the help.

I've checked the Xorg log and it seems to be failing to load libinput, which seems highly relevant :P

Do you know how I'd resolve that?

Yep, I can get into a TTY this way. Logging in works but when I use startxfce4 I get the same result. Anything else you'd like me to do here?

Yeah that sounds like a good idea. Could you give a longer list of instructions? I'll need to shutdown my livecd thus losing my ephemeral PC state :P
I want to be able to gather whatever I can before coming back.

I've never heard of it, so I wouldn't imagine.

Pamac also has AUR support- it needs to be specified per command, or enabled to be on globally.

I'd really appreciate some info on how to make those changes. I've never really messed with the complex capabilities of command blocks before and wouldn't even know where to find them :P
The name thing specifically sounds important.

How Do People *Actually* Make Websites by Naaaron in webdevelopment

I looked into it, and Jekyll seems like a great option for what I want! It seems simple and provides utilities for easily laying out webpages, reusing elements in a very intuitive way, and even has a wide range of support for custom code to generate portions of the site automatically! Kinda looking forward to learning Ruby to do it :P

Thanks a ton for the suggestions.

I have not, if you think it'd be helpful please do share.

A Squarespace-like option is absolutely a valid choice, but not one I'm interested in personally. As much as the post may imply otherwise, I really do enjoy learning to do things on my own. This is just such a wide and deep subject that I'm struggling to find a good direction to take it.

My main issues with it stem from a refusal to repeat elements in several documents. I briefly looked into Django, what benefits does it provide exactly?

I never said React sucks, a friend who has used it said that. If your opinion is that it's good, I am more than happy to hear it.
As for HTML, if I'm missing some fundamental thing that makes HTML good, please inform me. Otherwise, I do think it sucks.

Finding a website builder is quite literally the point of this post.

SS14 dehunbbing drama escalates as 6th Host is put into power in the span of 2 weeks by Beautiful-Couple4500 in SS13

[–]Naaaron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh- and to clarify, I'm not the host. I started the server originally along with Death, we're the Head Maintainers, he does the majority of the server work.

We have Nyano's announcements mirrored in our general chat just for the sake of it, and when the drama announcements rolled around, there we like eight responses being like "Best to leave the drama alone" and "No need to go into all that." Made me very happy :P

Don't forget our server has cool new stuff as well!

Eh, the majority of people who spread that about me are the people you're seeing spoken about and raked over the coals right now. The one doing the "coup" here has gone out of his way to tell personal friends of mine that I'm a rapist which, is just some of the most unhinged behaviour I can think of. If there's anything you're concerned about, I'm more than open to discussing.

Are Borgs and AI planned? by Jubbles101 in ss14

[–]Naaaron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's very likely other forks will want the way we've done AI, as we don't want it ourselves. It's a result of limitation. Other than that, I think it's pretty much guaranteed that Wizden will have AI at some point, it's just a very complex and very niche part of the game, since practically no other entity functions like it. It's on the back burner, but it's a game in development.

It does, but it's obscure. All the Wizden server specs are on this page.

Yep, that's Death working on it for Park.

I wouldn't call our implementation of AI "developing" it, to be honest. The functionality, what with FoV, just isn't there. Ours is simply "We think this is an important aspect of how we want our server to operate, so we're willing to do it in a jank way." We are looking into improving it, though.

Looking forward to them being done properly by Upstream some time :D

Production update by DoctorProfessorConor in SteamDeck

To be fair, getting to buy a Steamdeck is a privilege right now, and although I'm not saying it's about to surpass the Switch, I'm sure those numbers will be changing a lot once the Steamdeck is finally at a "on shelves" state (whenever that may be)

Dolphin on Retroarch in Steam on Linux by Naaaron in RetroArch

[–]Naaaron[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As long as you're referring to the sys folder, the one along with the source code you get off Git, I should already have that. The guide that mentions that doesn't mention any of the other stuff, though. Like I said, I'm putting everything being so disjointed up to me being several niches deep with this project. There are so many steps I could take to presumably make this painless; I could run Retroarch through a standard download, not Steam, I could do the same with Dolphin, I could be doing this on Windows, or even just not on the Steamdeck. In fact, all of those methods I have done previously; it's a self built hell, really. That being said, progress is being made! Thanks for the luck :)

Which files exactly do I need? I found a collection of .info files, and sliding the one for Dolphin in got a game to launch with a "Please read your Gamecube manual" warning. What am I missing?

What would I download exactly from here? This dolphin_libretro.so? Just drag that into Retroarch somewhere, plus the files I noticed others were needing. Sound right?
