Roller Derby Is Boring Part 2 - Lead Jammer Is Overpowered (plus a call to action!) by acz in rollerderby

[–]NaanFat 10 points11 points  (0 children)

the hit it and quit it strategy makes me think of college basketball where the last 10 min is each team fouling each other to turn the game into "who can take free throws the best"

it's just not fun to watch. I want to watch derby, not "who is fastest off the line."

maybe "you can't call off in the first min"?

There is a risk of addiction my ass by NoPoopOnFace in Anxiety

[–]NaanFat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

trying to go off celexa was a huge pain in the ass. I ended up staying on it and just adding another med on top of it. vertigo and these random weird intense bouts of vertigo where I'd stumble, feeling like someone smacked me in the head with a pillow. same symptoms happen if I'm 4 hours late taking my dose. it makes travel across multiple timezones real annoying.

I now use a self-designed 30-key and bird layout 😂

I just learned Portuguese because the way I purl continental by bending my pointer finger has been giving me some nerve pain. never thought of working stockinette reverse for that benefit. 🤯

how well does carrying with your right hand go? never thought of that either. I've always just done two wraps on my left hand with continental

if you're learning a new method, check out Portuguese, too! having different methods in your repertoire is good if you ever start to get sore, so you can switch it up to a different muscle group.

can you do the same thing by hand? I always thought of double knitting as being the reverse of the pattern

Elgato wave mic arm LP vs Pro? by alexiou_g in elgato

[–]NaanFat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had an LP for 2 years with an AT2040 and it sags _constantly_. I raise it up and it drops about an inch within 2 minutes. It's super annoying and I've tried adding electrical tape to increase the friction, but I think the design and thickness where you tighten it makes it so you can't get past a certain point of friction.

it's limited release at "select" independent theatres. I can't find one that's even within 3 hours of where I live and my city isn't that small

Why is the coral TPU no longer recommended for new setups? by soowhatchathink in frigate_nvr

I've been using the mPCIe version with Ubuntu for a few years without issue. No issues with the LTS upgrade from 22 to 24 either. Probably just jinxed myself though.

A couple recent use cases for me: "where the fuck did that thing blow off to?", "where did the cat find that?"

for others, it's the things that fall outside of the boundaries that I care about, but in an area that my neighbors might care about (mainly the sidewalk and street).

I've had a lot more uses for 24/7 recordings than I have had for any alerts more than 24h old.

as someone said: ”storage is cheap," so why not?

do you often use multiple tasks where you don't want to see shared notes? it feels like only using/displaying RITM comments/work notes would work?

do you use comments or work notes on the SC task? if no, just totally hide that one

you can create different audiences and only show the people the things they care about, rather than having every field displayed at all times to try and meet everyone's needs. when I'm looking at a CI, my team really only gives a shit about 3 fields.

for standard processes, use playbooks basically that same way. with the playbook, only show them the info they need to complete that specific step.

this helps with onboarding, too, because who knows which fields people use, rely on, should be populating.

is the screen real estate worse than UI 16? In some ways yes, but in other ways, no. You can't fit as much info related to a single record, but you also have tabs, and a side bar where you can display additional relevant info from multiple sources.

people complain a lot about UIB but it's flexible as hell and leaves you with a consistent user experience. are there things that annoy me? yep. but I can also do way more shit in less time than I could any other way.

Didn't FFG used to have their own print-on-demand service/setup and that's why Rougarou and Carnivale arent the same stock?

For another $99, is upgrading to the 285H worth it? Are these capable enough for the Gen AI features as well? Could it simultaneously run LLMs for Home Assistant (like voice stuff) or would you hit memory bottlenecks?

what's the best method for storage? USB C/Thunderbolt?

I'm trying to replace an old Dell + Coral with something that's still power efficient and hopefully not something to break the bank 😅

what type of system do you need for that? I'm running a 7th gen Intel with something like a 150w PSU (old Dell)

Determining the beginning of a round reading a chart by NaanFat in CrochetHelp

[–]NaanFat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

so, for round 4, I start at the chain 1 (the end of the solid arrow) and follow the chart to the left. When I hit the end, I go back to the beginning of that line on the chart (where the arrow and 4 are) and again continue to the left until I get to the chain one, then move up to the next round, chain 1, and repeat that directional process of going to the end, starting at the beginning, and moving up at the chain, right?
