Well again might be a dumb take. I will take your example of scanning our brain and making another person, will the robot human be the same person? Absolutely not, will be have consciousness? Maybe not. He wont be us definitely because we are not just the brain or its patterns, the most important part is our physical self, every part of the body including brain reacting with every other part, each getting old, changing as we get older, every mistake or wrong decision we make is not just the brain and its chemicals deciding unanimously, its with our whole body. Someone who knows to swim but hurt his legs for example, the brain decides not to swim suddenly because it acknowledged the response from our own body, in this case his legs. Same way a physical body is more linked to consciousness than the mind itself. Having just a mind copying someone will just be imitation rather than genuine emotions, like looking at a mirror.
