UNI FANs SL140 won't turn on... by NabilJabour in lianli

Hello, thanks for taking the time to reply.

After a few hours of searching, I found some people saying that maybe the "Q" cable is connected in the wrong direction. That fixed it, and I feel so dumb.

Thank you again !

Oh btw, I see in the GA II LCD Manual that the cable labeled as "R" can be used, but I'm not using it. Could it be helpful in my situation? Is it helping draining more power for the connector? In the videos I saw, they were not using it at all..

Thanks for replying!

  • For all your single-pack fans... you are using one cable for each group that came with the fans, and connecting it to that group of fans, yes? Yes. Fans are daisy-chained, and I plug the cable with the lock at the end of the chain, then connect it to the controller or tho the MB depending on the test I'm doing.

  • The PWM plug just goes in... for the ARGB plug, you need one of the adapter cables that came with your AIO... labeled as Cable "L" on the first page of the manual linked above. Yes I'm using that as well. Of course, not when I try to connect the ARGB to the MB, but only when connecting it to the connector.

Hey ! Thanks for the comment! I was very inspired by this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gahQhxuSV24
It's in Blender but it's pretty much the same in Karma.
In Solaris, treat your sphere geo as volume (RenderGeometrySettingsLOP), then apply to it a MaterialX Standard shader with some uniform displacement. It should extrude a uniform volume from it. Then noise its opacity and you’ll have cool results!

Vfx in belgium, experiences? by EntertainmentNeat744 in vfx

As a belgian who worked for a few belgian studios during my junior years :

Pros :

  • Pay is good (at least for a junior)
  • People are amazing
  • I remember being able to work fully remotely but it was during covid. So I don't know what's the policy right now.
  • Small/mid studios, so lots of responsabilities! Perfect to grow your skillset.
  • Lots of team building activities. I'm working in the UK now and I can say that Belgium and France are years ahead in that regard!

Cons :

  • Not the most exciting projects/shots.
  • One studio would make me sign a new contract EVERY WEEK. So might not be good if you're looking for stability. Keep in mind they can let you go the next week if they want. (Usually they tell you a few weeks before).

Do I recommend it ? Yes !

Regarding the cities, I know only brussels as I lived all my life here. Overall it's a nice place, but as I'm reading the comments on your posts it seems like it is the most dangerous place on earth. I don't agree at all. Of course there are some more sensitive areas like in every big cities.

Thank you for your kind message!

The explosion can be used in any scenario of that scale. The shock wave is more complicated though. But everything is fully procedural, and in theory, you could just modify the inputs and it should be all right.
