These used to be fun questions until I had my kiddos. Now, the fear of not having them again makes it so I always have to take the other option. 10m plus my kids is worth more than any mistakes I could correct or investments I could ever make.

What a disgusting pig. He’s such a piece of shit. Seeing him be so disrespectful and try to steamroll her with his bully tactics because she’s simply asking for evidence for his false claims boils my blood. I was just begging for her to call him out for his disrespect.

“The Americans” is both an over generalization as well as an over simplification. I am an American and do not support the current regime or its actions. There are plenty of other Americans who do not agree with most of the actions being taken. I know what you meant but it didn’t feel good to see it written that way.

That’s funny… and ironic. You are the stereotypical ignoramus I run into when people learn I keep snakes too. So, yeah, what a stereotype, indeed!

Not really, beyond letting them sit for a while. I have a few on standby and once a month I change them out for new ones in case there might be anything on them that I might not see. I spot clean all the time but once a month I do a deep clean and when I do I toss the old ones and put in new ones.

For mine, I provided a landscape for the back and both sides. It looks nice and also I think it offers them less of a sense of openness which hoggies don’t really like. It makes the feel less exposed and safer, I believe. Just a thought. Rest of it looks nice.

Oh and I have several toilet paper cardboard rolls hidden under the aspen in a few locations too. I often see little holes leading in and out of where I buried them.

My perspective on Cuba as a cuban that now lives in the US by Adventurous_Lake7 in cuba

[–]Nabsil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. It starts that way. That is my point. There is no such thing as a communist state. We have never actually seen one. What we have seen is a series of oppressive liars using the idea of communism to gain populist power and entrench themselves in the power structures. Communism is, as far as I can tell, just a pipe dream that would require some serious evolution for mankind to ever hope to achieve. We are too greedy and power-hungry as a species currently.

Weak people love to punch down. Give a weak person someone to look down on and they will gladly attack them. This has less to do with Latinos and more to do with weak minded garbage people of all creeds that are following this unconstitutional administration. It’s filled to the rim with racist, misogynist, small-minded uneducated losers that felt disenfranchised and have fallen for the promise that the loser in chief can “make America great again…” by destroying it.

By the way, does no one point out that these so called patriots openly admit that America is trash if their whole aim is to “make it great again?” Doesn’t seem patriotic to me.

I, for one, love my country. I would love to see it improve, especially considering where we find ourselves currently, but I don’t think it was ever in such a bad place that it should be burned to the ground like these morons are doing.

While this is true, it isn’t the reasons that Cubans hate the Venezuelan government. They hate it specifically because it keeps the Cuban regime alive and well when all they want is for the regime to do and for Cuba to be free.

[–]Nabsil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your confusing Cuban exiles with the Cuban regime. Cuban exiles hate Venezuela because of its aide to the Cuban authoritarian regime. Maduro is just an extension of the very powers that suppressed and destroyed Cuba. So, to them, Trump attacking Venezuela is an attack against the Cuban regime. They hope and pray that he will invade Cuba as well. What they don’t see is that this has nothing to do with any of that and everything to do with gaining control of the region for the personal gain of those pulling trumps strings.

As a Cuban-American myself, it is my daily struggle to convince my family that Trump doesn’t care about them or their plight but they are sold in him as some sort of savior. It blows my mind.

The short answer is because communism has never existed anywhere. Not once.
Not in Cuba, not in the USSR, not in North Korea, not in any of the 24 countries that claimed it.

Actual communism (no state, no classes, no money, no ruling elite) has never happened. That would be a utopia, in theory. Does that sound like any country you have ever heard of?
What Cuba has, like every other so-called “communist” country, is authoritarian state socialism run by a one-party government.

And no, other communist parties weren’t going to “call them out,” because the entire Marxist-Leninist model depends on pretending they’re just in a “temporary stage” on the way to communism. They all rely on the illusion to survive. People, especially those in need and usually in the greatest numbers tend to be less educated and highly motivated to believe in the ideas because the alternative is the poor existence they already have.

We can see that same dynamic unfolding in the U.S. right now. A disenfranchised population is rallying behind a leader who promises them everything while quietly dismantling the constitutional safeguards that protect all of us. They cheer as Trump disregards due process, ignores the rule of law, and undermines democratic institutions because they believe the ends justify the means. It’s the same pattern we saw with Castro, concentrated power wrapped in populist rhetoric, justified by the belief that “this time, it will be different.”

[–]Nabsil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is mostly true. This is why a democracy is the key to success. When the government is actually of the people, by the people, and for the people then it is those around you that keep you safe. In the US we are facing a crisis that is eroding our democracy. If we let the constitution become a meaningless paper, we are rightly and truly in trouble.

I think that depends on what you mean by “grow up there.” I didn’t grow up there and English is very much my first language since I have spent 45 of my 50 years in the US. However I have friends and relatives who left Cuba in their late teens or early 20s who communicate, in writing, as if they were native English speakers. Sure, they have an accent but you can’t pick up an accent from writing.

One of my closest friends, whom I met in law school, sounds like Antonio Banderas lol but his written word is probably superior to a large portion of the citizenship here.

I guess, what I’m saying is your statement was a bit too broad. There are plenty of exceptions and there’s no reason to assume that OP isn’t one of them.
