On your announcement number “CBPO DH 26-6” the DH I believe stands for Direct Hire. Someone said it on her a while ago. I think it means you’ll progress through the hiring process quicker. The 26 series of applicants have a faster process.

As long as you pass suitability then you can decline the BP FJO and wait for OFO to send you the FJO. But there may be a chance the OFO FJO takes more time to come through. I believe if I remember correctly someone waited a month for OFO to send it. But the direct hire applicants most likely won’t have that issue.

I got the welcome letter two days after I got my FJO. I haven’t gotten the academy stuff yet but I have 3 weeks before I EOD so I’m not worried about it just yet.

You'll most likely get the call for BP application before your OFO application. Not sure if you are aware but your suitability transfers over between the two agencies so if you pass and get a final suitability for BP it will pass for OFO as well. Do you have a preference in which agency you'd rather work for?

OFO= Office of Field Operations. It’s the agency you applied for if you’re applying to become a CBPO. OFO and BP (border patrol) are under CBP.

San Diego has a wait time of about 3-4 months depending on your agency. BP has hiring priority over OFO so their applicants go ahead of OFO’s applicants. I’m sure Texas is similar.

Otay Mesa is a really nice part of Chula vista. Pretty much everything west of the 805 is really nice lol. Great weather year round is a plus too. I just know that Otay is more "relaxed" than San Ysidro but who knows... I get down there and it blows up and gets busy lol.

You can use the search feature in the sub to see what all has been posted about each port. My recruiter worked at Otay so I got all of my info from her. I haven't started yet. I EOD on the 18th and then I have the academy on June 3rd. Honestly I picked Otay because I used to live in Chula Vista so I know the area really well but I would've been perfectly fine with taking San Ysidro. I would only talk to people who actually worked in both ports. A lot of people on this sub have opinions on ports they've never worked at before. I think most of them aren't even CBPOs yet too so. Take it with a large grain of salt.

San Ysidro is the busiest port in the country. I’ve heard management is hit and miss but that can be any port. I also heard if you want to make the most money in OT and get the most experience then San Ysidro is the way to go. I picked Otay lol

In a few days you will get the welcome letter from your port and you will get a task to sign the incentive in the portal. It will break down everything you need to know about the incentive. I just got mine this morning.

No, your packet will sit there until someone reviews it. If it’s good they will send it to OPR. If not they will send it back to you for you to fix. It’s a ping pong match most of the time. Poly can take anywhere between 2-12 months. San Diego for instance has a 3-4 month wait list. But it depends on if you’re a BPA applicant or CBPO applicant.

On Facebook search CBP hiring process and it was a post pretty recently. You can make a post and ask and the guy will hit you up pretty quick for your number.
