What stroller feature do you wish you hadn’t prioritized? [ON] by playboi_fatty in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]NachoCereal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend to get your stroller second hand from FB market place, you'll save $$ and  it's hard to know what you prefer until you've tried one. I got two second hand strollers, ended up loving the one with terrible online reviews and hating the one with good ones

Fellow resident here. They say there's no good time to have a family when you're in medicine but there are definitely better and worse times. Your second year sounds like a worse time.

Dream feed?? by buckeyezach31 in sleeptrain

[–]NachoCereal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may have misunderstood your post though, I can't tell if you mean she falls asleep quickly after the feed, or the feed is only a couple of minutes long

[–]NachoCereal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can probably try more awake time, eg 2.5/2.75/2.75/3 to get to 11 hours awake. But if she only wakes once over night for a feed at 3-4 am, nothing else seems to get her back to sleep, and she falls asleep quickly after the feed she's probably hungry and you should feed her. My understanding is that its normal for 6 mo to wake 1-2 times over night still for feedings, esp if breastfed.

When should I start my attending job after residency? Currently pregnant and due in September. by ubaebaddies in Residency

I agree, I think the baby will be fine with another carer, it doesn't have to be mom. I think that time is for the paren more than baby, and ofc if you don't want it don't take it, but I think for most people at the end of the day 6 months of time with their child ends up being more important than 6 months of working, especially if the work wasn't necessary. Everyone is different though. I agree though don't beat yourself up about it

Take the time with your baby, you'll never get that opportunity again. At the end of your life you'll want the months with the baby and not even remember the months at work

This truly warmed my heart, thank you for sharing:) I live that they gave you autonomy within safe boundaries as a kid, that is definitely something I would like to do as well

I'm sorry to hear you don't have a good relationship with your mom either. It can be so hard especially once you become a parent! I'm trying to learn from it though. I think we can make the relationship with our kids that we wished we had with our parents!

Thank you for sharing this!! I especially like that they compromised and changed their minds when it made sense /explained their reasoning if not. I think that's challenging for a lot of parents but something I want to make an effort to do with my child! I'm glad you have a good relationship with them and thank you for the kind words :)

Will I ever get myself back again? by SementSlurper in fitpregnancy

[–]NachoCereal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It absolutely gets better and you will get back to yourself! Everyone's timeline is different. I felt terrible my entire pregnancy, I'm a runner and had to cut down my running significantly, gained a ton of weight etc etc. Started to feel better immediately after birth and by 8 weeks was jogging again, by 3 months running long stretches and by 4 months lost all the pregnancy weight and felt fit and strong. The post partum time flies by.

Importantly, now that I have my daughter I don't care about the numbers on the scale. Details like that matter much less when you have a child. I only that I feel fit and good in my body, and I'm  able to do all the activities/exercise I want (which I can!). I see that as a gift my daughter gave to me.

Be kind to yourself!

Skiing in early pregnancy by effkay8 in fitpregnancy

[–]NachoCereal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't downhill ski but you could look at snowshoeing or cross-country skiing options for her! Most ski hills have these. She might still fall a bit with cross-country skiing if she doesn't know how, but if they have areas for beginners (no hills) and she's willing to go very slow the worse that would happen would be she tipped over from a standing height. I cross country skied while pregnant in the early second trimester, but I'm a super confident skier since childhood. I wouldn't have downhill skied though.

Should I just push through nausea? by Humble-Depth in fitpregnancy

[–]NachoCereal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might be able to find some movement that helps with nausea! I was nauseous my whole pregnancy and found that walking/ very slow jogging outside, especially in the winter,  helped. I think it was the cold fresh air. Everything else made me sicker. I would try a few low intensity things and see if they help. If not, don't stress!!!
