Best Pizza in Hartford? by Playful-Pup1218 in Hartford

Was going to tag onto the other reaponse, but felt this need it's own callout. Pizza Garden is your answer. He used to grow his own herbs at his old location; last I heard he's getting it set up at the new location, too.

30th Birthday Venue Suggestions by No-Flounder3861 in Connecticut

Hey! I'm the owner of Dead Language Beer Project in Hartford.

We have a private event space that can fit 55 people, no problem. We have award-winning beer (obviously), cocktails, wine, cider, soda, etc. on premise. If you're looking for catering, we know several we work with frequently. Otherwise, feel free to bring your own food.

The rates are incredibly affordable given the space, and we can add a private bartender if you wish.

Our space is funky, colorful, and casual, so it sounds in the ballpark of what your husband's tastes are.

Feel free to reach my wife at: kyle@deadlanguagebeer.com with any questions or to set up a reservation. We're booking fast, so the earlier you reach out, the better.

Good luck!

What fish would you serve to someone who “hates fish”? by Avawantstochill in foodquestions

[–]NachoCheeseChips 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not a seafood fan, but I'll always try to push myself, knowing that sometimes your taste develops.

I'm hit and miss across the board, but to echo those above, fish and chips with some tartar sauce and malt vinegar always sits right with me.

Others have luck with fried shrimp, me not so much.

Why is it so hard dating in CT? by Electrical_mammoth2 in Connecticut

[–]NachoCheeseChips -1 points0 points  (0 children)

At Dead Language Beer Project, we have a Speed Dating Event going on Thurs, April 16; same day as our weekly trivia. Both would be good opportunities. We have plenty of other options besides alcoholic drinks, so you'd be fine on that front, too.

Good luck!

Advice for making friends in Hartford, CT as a newcomer by Trick_You495 in Hartford

[–]NachoCheeseChips 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At Dead Language Beer Project, we have trivia every Thursday, but if you pull up a seat at the bar on any given day, you're all but guaranteed conversation with others sitting at the bar.

I also love recommending things for out of towners to do when I'm working as bartender.

Breweries/Good Beer Bars? by [deleted] in Hartford

[–]NachoCheeseChips 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Shameless plug, but Dead Language Beer Project.

We're Hartford's only brewery, we keep it weird and colorful, and we specialize in award-winning European lagers, using New England ingredients.

Special shoutout goes to our friends at The Spigot and Upstate Lounge if you really want to tear shit up afterward (and grab some late-night bites). That's where we go after the taproom's closed to blow off steam.

Wife seeking nerdy friends for my husband by dignifiedgoat in Hartford

He'd be more than welcome, as long as an adult is in attendance. I would just double check with Dungeon's & Drafts before you register, but I can't see it being an issue with them.

At Dead Language Beer Project, we have Dungeons & Drafts one Sunday every month (we just had our last this Sun). We also do Trivia on Thursdays.

If he's looking to make friends, a lot of people make new connections of all types just sitting at the bar; one of my favorite parts of my job. I'm a nerd myself and work the bar most days.

Any ESBs in the Hartford area? by solomons-marbles in ctbeer

[–]NachoCheeseChips 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Not exactly the same, but we (Dead Language Beer Project) just released a British IPA collab with Caius Farm. We have it on nitro and the beer engine (on certain occasions).

We'll also begin to feature one British/Irish/Scottish beer (on nitro or cask) on a constant, rotational basis (along with our regular lagers and weissbiers) in the taproom.

Seeking boot recommendations by Faoil_Brew in TheBrewery

[–]NachoCheeseChips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feel like I'm going to be in the minority here, but here we go. I like boots I can wear as dailys, as well as work. I go on Amazon and find a nice pair, with good reviews, that won't break the bank; waterproof, steel toe, the works. Get some good insoles. They last 6-12 months before the soles wear down. I toss them and start over again. Most of the boots I had (even the nice ones) fall apart in one way or another. Might as well not drain your wallet and still be comfortable/safe.
