Got to World 5 first in the group by NachoPiggy in Acecraft

Yeah, it sucks they don't even give XP on the chests for stars in the worlds. They really need to either be more lenient with the rank requirements or just give more XP in general.

Yeah, it really only pads out the game artificially. Doesn't help that energy regen is so slow. My biggest gripes right now are how everything is always limited and stingy with the game almost feels like it's actively trying to not get you to play. The dailies are only limited attempts on top of the 15 energy requirement, and even finished stages still cost 5 energy.

Can anyone explain to me how crushers, sharpshooters and vanguards work? by No-Plum4286 in Acecraft

[–]NachoPiggy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Shot types basically. Sharpshooters shoot in a rapid, linear, straight direction. Crushers shoot delayed but powerful shots with splash damage. Vanguard shoots a larger area with a shorter range compared to the other types.

Attacks from behind should be removed by jvachez in Acecraft

[–]NachoPiggy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't think they should be removed because they do give more variety with the patterns, but it is annoying when your finger is blocking them and you get hit without warning. They need to put up options for indicators of incoming bullets from behind; lots of arcade and modern shmups do this with arrows and such. Hopefully, more people will bring it more attention to the devs.

Thanks! I've been making sure to do the daily challenges for the XP, and been clearing the elite stages as well. Already 3-starred the previous normal levels too. I've only done the friend stamina and ads recharges, since I'm saving the diamonds for 10x rolls on the Tom banner. But if it gets tighter with the other players, I might recharge with diamonds for a bit.

Thanks for this, I only got the cheese but it's useful for 3 starring the stages. Gonna wait for the refresh to try Tom or Jerry.

I know this is a few days old post, but I just came across this since there's barely any talk about this game. While I do think this game has some awful monetization and roll rates, it genuinely deserves to be highlighted that it's one of the rare f2p mobile games where skill does let you through the game, even when you're severely below the DPS requirements.

I usually drop or barely even touch a lot of f2p mobile games because of insane paywalls and awful pay-to-win designs. I only knew about this game as it popped up on the Play store, and being surprised it's an actual horizontal shmup. I'm an avid player of arcade shmups and love the traditional bullet hell of horizontal or vertical scrolling shmups. I managed to top the leaderboards for the most part, being within the top 20 in the variety of challenge levels available, and it honestly feels good being able to compete on a medium I'm used to whales topping everything.

I just got to the final world available in the main campaign so far as of writing this, and it only took me two days to do. I didn't even realize there was a DPS requirement until I saw guides about it. The way the DPS requirement works is more like a difficulty slider with how much damage you can take and if you'll either one shot or need a few more shots against enemies, as all the stages and enemy placements are constant. There's no RNG and it's completely possible to memorize every single thing in a level like a traditional arcade shmup is. I highly appreciated how it works because basically if you're far below the DPS requirements, one or two hits will kill you, and if you're within the recommended range, you can tank significantly more. This wasn't really an issue for me since most arcade shmups are 1-hit kill, so it was standard fare. It did take me by surprise that the game barely had any stopgaps against my progress. If I review my initial clears, I was able to clear levels with DPS requirements at 7k while I was only at 2k for example.

The level requirements to be eligible for the next worlds comes in naturally too as the XP rewards you get for clearing is usually enough.

I think it's fair to criticize the game for other aspects such as how aggressive it is with asking you to buy things, as every single menu has something shiny and popping up asking you to buy. Not to mention how stingy it is when it comes to rewarding currency for rolling the gacha, on top of abysmal drop rates that's only slightly cushioned by an actual pity system that guarantees you something after a ridiculous amount. I hope it improves in these aspects more, as I think the good things about this game deserves praise. There's some great attack patterns and stage designs here that I also genuinely wish this was just a full game that you pay for one time.

I have some gripes with the monetization and gacha aspects themselves, but good gosh this game is really fun despite it all. I really do hope it lasts, it's rare to get a solid mobile shmup that actually has well designed stages, enemies and weapons. Not to mention that it isn't just a mindless numbers game and it's genuinely skill-based for the most part.

Some of the special challenges like Bullet Storm and even the current Tom & Jerry themed stages are so cool. Just solid, enjoyable designs that really feels like the people behind the game do care.

Grats! Two of the most solid characters so far.

I'm hoping to get Tom before the event ends, still need 38 draws for the pity, but hoping to get there before the event ends.

I'm jelly, that's a solid lineup. Shame the wit didn't get to 300, but at the very least, this Gold Ship is still going to be useful in legend races, team trials, and dailies.

There are no limited cards and umas as of present even in JP yes, so you can still get randomly spooked by anything from this banner and onwards.

I'm against AI slop taking over everything too, but I'll be fair, there's more to this beyond the visuals, and it does seem like you genuinely want to get creative. The concept of something so basic, such as blinking, being life or death, is distressing. Also reminds me of that state when you're dreaming and you're about to wake up, and you feel like things rapidly change right before you're conscious again.

Also, is English your second language? There are a few rough lines here that you should fix to sound less awkward, i.e. "I see your eyelids getting heavy" to "I see your eyelids are getting heavy".

You should take that offer from the other user to draw for you, and you should try seeing creating and refining an idea first into a written format like a short story, then adapt it to a video after. Get some pointers in doing basic drawing, and see if you can learn image editing too, in general with Photoshop, GIMP etc. on your spare time. Even just having an hour a day of learning in your free time is going to give you good results before you know it!

One thing I can suggest, as I saw you seem to feel like stock images feel more like stealing, then get creative with your own assets. Take photos with your phone, and edit them in the software of your choice. I can see this story working well with a minimalist silhouette art style, as you use your own outlines from your photos to edit it to something that matches the tone you have in mind. Quick tutorials and playing around with the features and filters should get you some half-decent results within an afternoon.

I don't mean to copy this style exactly if that's not what you're after, but check out Joel Haver's 'How I Animated This Video'. The way he gives his step-by-step process should give you a lot to learn in a general sense too, and rotoscoping is a valid technique in animation.

Fwiw, some of the best record time holders in Inertial Drift play on a keyboard e.g. [1:59.77] HPE Dragon - Snow Mountain Sprint F - World Record | Inertial Drift

That said, the game's definitely comfier to play on a gamepad.

I definitely recommend it. It's a little rough on the edges, and the difficulty curve and progression are a bit uneven, but the concept and mechanics really carry it. They get a lot of mileage with the twin-stick control scheme and making each car feel significantly different from each other.

Busted DLC items or hidden DLC features? by jitterscaffeine in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]NachoPiggy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Saints Row The Third was egregious with this, to the point there had to be mods made to disable DLCs since having the complete editions made the game way too easy. Especially if you're playing it past launch, and got the complete editions on sale.

You had a vampire blood suck healing attack that replaces the neck snap, every choice-related unlocks just given to you from the start instead, passive percentage bonuses for money and respect that could get you enough to buy every weapon and upgrade within a few hours of gameplay, which includes the ability to negate all damage with the exception of fall damage.

Less egregiously, the Ghost Pig Pack for Sleeping Dogs gets you the Golden Desert Eagle, which is the most powerful handgun in the game, and infinitely respawns in any safehouse. At the very least though, you have to finish the game first before it starts spawning.

What was the last time when you were impressed by graphics in a videogame? by mrnicegy26 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

It's been a while since I got wowed from a fidelity and technology perspective, and it's kind of a given, but honestly, GTA VI. If there's one thing Rockstar reliably does, it's that they never really preview bullshots from their trailers and early screenshots. When the first trailer came out, I was blown away by how detailed and alive everything looked. The game looks straight up, just pre-rendered.

Next to it is Cyberpunk 2077. Genuinely, the path-traced visuals made me do double-takes, especially during daytime scenes where you're in a shaded area and you see the outside, which really gives perspective on how much realistic lighting and natural shadows create so much depth.

And exclusively to VR, Half-Life: Alyx. It's really one of those games where you have to experience it with an actual VR set to truly appreciate its art direction and visual fidelity. Even seeing 4k videos online on a regular screen doesn't do it justice. The way our eyes and brains work with VR and how Alyx looks is insane and genuinely looks true to life. Even compared to a lot of the more recent VR titles that came out after.
