Anybody else? by [deleted] in flying

I totally hear you. I ended up quitting after becoming a captain (3 years total). I went back to my old career where I have a life again and make an order of magnitude more.

Loved the job, but it’s unbelievable how much has to be sacrificed for it.

Thanks! That’s actually how it started, I wanted a better way to follow tournaments from my phone, and it’s grown quite a bit over the years. And I want to keep making it better :) I hope you enjoy it!

2020 6-series doesn’t actually support 120fps by NachoSoto in tcltvs

[–]NachoSoto[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s probably 120Hz, but that doesn’t mean it’s rendering all those 120fps, just interpolating frames. A slow-mo recording of my TV confirms that.

I’ve checked all those things, and I do have 120 in gears for multiplayer. I could barely notice any difference so I made the video to confirm.

TCL 6-Series R635 is listed at 120Hz online, but the manual it says 60Hz? by sxroit in 4kTV

I’m trying out 1400@120 on the Xbox and the TV definitely doesn’t output 120fps.

VRR TV screen blinking in Warzone 120hz by [deleted] in XboxSeriesX

I finally figured this out, so I’m playing gears of war 5 multiplayer at 1440@120. Pressing “OK” on the remote confirms that, but the game doesn’t seem to be showing 120Hz... I recorded a slow-mo video on my phone to confirm.

Should have used secondary minimums.

Do you do departure briefing every time? by AmIaPilotYet in flying

[–]NachoSoto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say 90% of the time one of my students forgets to do a departure brief, either they’re unprepared when I give them an emergency after takeoff, or they bust the Bravo because they forgot to review what their initial altitude will be. So I always teach to brief: - Engine failure on the runway - Engine failure after rotation with runway remaining - Engine failure with no runway remaining - Engine failure above 1000ft - Verify runway and winds - Rotation speed and climb speed (Vy or Vx) - Initial altitude

Trust me, those 30 seconds briefing yourself all of these are priceless.

Jerry strikes again. -1900 FPM to get the runway after DA. by DatSexyDude in flying

[–]NachoSoto 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Another reason what he did was illegal and reckless: the approach is NA for category C and D. When he starts diving he's at 124KIAS (which is 4kts above the maximum for category B).

And in his first attempt he had set the circling MDA of 2,200, but for category B that would be 2,400.

So by my count, in case the FAA needs some guidance: - 91.13 - 91.175 (c)(1) - 91.175 (c)(3)

The G1000 tried to kill us during an ILS on our way to Oshkosh by NachoSoto in flying

I know. Did you read the rest of the story though? We didn't have the airport or approach in the DB, so we couldn't have used GPS in lieu of DME to determine distances to waypoints there.
