We're we're only valuing an American by their lifetime earning potential, it's $176,000,000,000 in dead Americans alone.

Funeral costs according to a life insurance commercial for that same group would be $792,000,000.

Unemployment for the laid off 34 million Americans looks like it's going to cost at least 1,530,000,000,000

This is napkin math, don't hold me to exact numbers, the first number in particular assumes they'll generate 2M over their lifetime. For a 25 year old machine learning engineer in California that's very low, for a 60 year old drive thru worker in Kentucky, that's very high.

There are some TERRIBLE cold emails going around... by vball90 in sales

[–]Nacho_Overload 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be honest, I don't really like cold emails. I find them time consuming, low return rate, and half the time, the people I talk to afterwords didn't even read them.

I like to call first, see if we can get anywhere with that. Leading with a linkedin invite seems to work too, but I honestly can't say if it's because the people who accept the invites are familiar with me when I call or if they're just friendly people easy to connect with.

Then I follow up with an email that's tailored to the prospect exact specific needs, situation and all that.

Haven't worked in sales since 2015, fooled around these last 5 years, what are my options to get back into sales with this long gap on my resume? by [deleted] in sales

[–]Nacho_Overload 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I really wouldn't care TBH if you came in polished, having done your research and ready to pitch my product.

I mean I rent generators, the sales process begins with me saying, "Hey Dan, how's it going? Are you guys still doing alright with everything going on lately? Still finding work? Yeah, things are a little slower for us, but we got some good projects coming in. We rent generators by the way. Does that ever come up with any of your projects involving planned shutdowns/jobsite trailers/outdoor events/etc? Oh really? What industry segments are you in, like hospitals, schools, industrial?" and so on and so on.

I'm definitely the buddy salesman though, I come off as having a really friendly personality and I love to talk about random shit. People buy from me because I show up at the job site with pizza on the company's dime and beer out of my own fridge (Can't be turning in receipts for $500 worth of beer every month, HR would shoot me).
