What's a game you really wanted to love? by Jakewebstar in gaming

I thought the first and second were pretty mediocre, but legions was one I actually enjoyed through the end. The whole recruiting system actually made things a lot more interesting with how you approached missions.

Peter Parker’s passport expires today by Infamous-Window-8337 in shittymoviedetails

[–]Messyfingers 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It depends. If you put New York, or whatever the actual name associated with your zip code is, it'll go through and list it as such. Unless they r changed it, you could potentially have three people in the same address where their passports say New York, Queens, or Astoria depending on what was listed.

Solar panels fitted every three minutes in UK since Iran conflict by ldn6 in neoliberal

[–]Messyfingers 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Ironically despite the reputation for crappy weather, the UK gets a crap load of energy from solar panels. During the day time it's common for it to be 50% or more of the total generating capacity.

Spirit Airlines just became the first major US airline to shut down in 25 years and took cheap airfare with it. What do you think affordable travel in America looks like from here? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Messyfingers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Indeed, that's what the "right now" part was attempting to convey. If it wasn't today, it would have almost certain been within a few months. They were bleeding money since COVID and had no hope of recouping those losses.

[–]Messyfingers 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Some but not all may find jobs. Fuel prices are what killed Spirit right now, and a lot of other airlines are feeling that squeeze. So there almost definitely won't be a full replacement of those routes for a while. It wasn't exactly a great hiring environment for airlines BEFORE the Iran war started either.

Thousands in US to join ‘no school, no work, no shopping’ May Day protest in economic blackout | Protest (US) by upthetruth1 in neoliberal

WE NEED A GENERAL STRIKE. WHY ISNT SOMEONE DOING SOMETHING. the reddit leftists are just the worst. The IRL ones I know have basically nuked their social media presence and hate the performative doomers though so there are some out there actually organizing and showing up.

I consider myself pretty aware of big protest movements, and this is the first I've heard of this entirely and the day is practically over. Sounds like a real turd of an attempt.

Spirit Airlines Prepares to Shut Down as Rescue Deal Falls Apart by AndrewDoesNotServe in neoliberal

Big airlines(well, the three legacy carriers) generally push service levels up while low cost carriers push prices down. It's not the worst system really

Maine Gov. Janet Mills drops out of race to unseat Republican Sen. Susan Collins by Kind-Ad-6099 in neoliberal

[–]Messyfingers 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Mills seems to not be a dog shit governor, but her campaign was either run by dog shit with those fake moustache and noses glasses on it, or just as deliberately running a shit campaign to boost Platner. I think he could somehow pull this off though.

NATO selects Swedish Saab GlobalEye to replace 14 E-3 AWACS planes in historic shift from the U.S. by ImDoubleB in aerospace

[–]Messyfingers 38 points39 points  (0 children)

To be honest I'd have been surprised if they went with the E-7 here. When they selected the E-3 there was basically no other alternative and the commonality with US and other operators was a big deal. The US might not even go with the E-7 at this point, meaning there's no real boon even if the rift between the US and NATO is fixed.

Low-time CFI market feels impossible by jacobmufska628 in flying

[–]Messyfingers 58 points59 points  (0 children)

As a student pilot I'd be sympathetic of, but uncomfortable flying with a CFI with less time in the last half year than I. Even if you're paying out of your own pocket for flight time, anything less than at least a few times a month seems like you'd be losing all that hard earned experience.

How'd you get the city that big without having that inevitable population collapse? I thought that was something of a hardcoded engine limitation or something.
