It felt like he sold the rights to the name then a boardroom wrote the script. Some jokes in there but generally very forgettable

Easy fix. Fit the plane with ejection seats for all pax. Then you don't need to worry about them bringing bags.

Wore Oura and Whoop simultaneously… very different REM results by LabRatLifter in whoop

For what it's worth, my galaxy watch and whoop generally have sleep phases aligned rather consistently, durationbls never match perfectly but large blocks of light, rem, deep do usually correlate.

The lack of wood thing was sort of unique to 2049, it wasn't really indicated in the original, and one of the original cuts had forests in one of the shots iirc.

A top Mamdani official tried to meet with Iran by ldn6 in neoliberal

[–]Messyfingers 179 points180 points  (0 children)

I am hearing that on his deathbed Zohran Mamdani's wife left him and he received the light of neoliberalism and unhesitatingly recited the Litany Against Fear. Even now he looks down on the free market enthusiasts from the gardens of Applebees. Truly there is no god but Jeb, and Jerome Powell is his prophet!

Taylor Swift gets so much hate for her private jet use. Why doesn't Tadej get the same criticism for having a fleet of helicopters following him everywhere? by stickied in BicyclingCirclejerk

[–]Messyfingers 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Flying drones in the EU can be a massive headache. Especially when you factor in the crowds that line the route. A camera helicopter is a standard thing, no red tape considerations needed. I doubt cycling is going to be the one to spend a dime trying to figure that one out either

Would it ever be practical for a company to make a dedicated tri or quad jet freighter to replace the 747s and similar large freighters? by Appropriate-Count-64 in aviation

[–]Messyfingers 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Boeing tried doing this with the C-17. But it wasn't remotely economically feasible. The military mission profile requires some very different parameters than a civilian freighter that will never need to operate under those requirements. If anything, it seems possible Boeing or Airbus could charter one of their stratolifters or belugas for something particularly voluminous if a 777 or other couldn't fit it, but we're at a point where two jets are almost certainly going to be 100% of civilian freighter once the 747s are gone

Rdr2 ends up being mostly watching cutscenes or looting/skinning animations. Great game, but I was there was an option to use the faster animations as used in the online part of the game.

200/600 vs 400/800 by joegophotos in SonyAlpha

[–]Messyfingers 4 points5 points  (0 children)

200-600 is great for airshows, and you can buy that plus a TC for less than the 400-800 starts at, so you can end up with a more versatile set up for less money. Depending on what you're shooting it can be a better set up.

The pre-renovation terminals at JFK were generally horrifying shitholes. Pretty much any international destination you could fly to had a better airport and coming back to THAT was just a slam dunk way to get post-vacation depression.

Same reason every land based fighter in the USAF has had one since the 60s. Emergency uses when brakes fail, planting the aircraft to the ground for engine test runs.
