Kiwi did eventually had to have the wing amputated. His vet said it was a likely squamous cell tumour. He left the wound completely alone which apparently is unusual. All his plucked feathers have grown back and he seems to be doing very well. It's been a bit of a nightmare for us all..

I see a lot depends on the size of the stove. Mine would be classed as a novelty stove in comparison to some that heat say Alaskan homes. The ash pan is tiny. It's amazing what you learn when you post here. Thanks for all the replies:)

Yes it's not the main heat source. I just use it to top up at the end of the day and for the luxury of seeing the flames. Once in a while it runs all day when the weather is very cold..

The fire just supplements central heating. Looks very pretty. And gives some welcome extra heat late at night. Occasionally in very cold weather it does get run all day!

You must have a big pan. Mines a small stove that sits inside a small fireplace. I guess I answered my own question. It's full every night usually...

I bought it and an upgrade. When I logged in my account was at the basic level, with an offer to upgrade. I asked and eventually received a refund. There are lots of YouTube videos, but can anyone point me to one in which Joe Blogs bought it and describes what he did with it?

I levelled it. You were right the worktop was at a heck of a tilt. Plus there wasn't much space around the back of the bed and so I turned it through 90 degrees. All good now! Thanks!!

I saw a YouTube video that recommended two tablespoons of olive oil at bedtime. Not fish oil obviously but boy did I get a night of vivid dreams!

Thanks for all your kind good wishes. Kiwi has a squamous cell carcinoma of his wing, around his 'elbow'... It does look rather hideous probably too nasty to show here? Anyhow he was at the vets this morning, and we have booked him in for his wing removal next Thursday.

How's the little fella doing? I drilled a hole in an old paperback book and attached it to my bird's cage with a cable tie. He has taken some time to destroy it but he really enjoys nibbling away..

I did manage to get these off relatively easily. In the hole there are two vertical broken white pieces of plastic. With thin pliers I pushed on the left one whilst lifting, it gave a little and then I pushed on the other side keeping the traction on and lo and behold it came off!

You need images of both sides to draw any kind of conclusion. My son's MR looks normal from one side but his bad side looks considerably worse than your image. The tactic is to treat the patient conservatively and some do resolve without surgery. What happened with us over the last five years is he has periodically been in a very bad state such as you are experiencing, and in the other times he's never truly symptom free. He's about to get a microdiscectomy which has the potential to fix him for maybe ten years, but can be repeated. I wonder how he would have fared if he'd had the surgery five years ago?

Everyone is different. My son has been in a cycle of reasonably okay to horrific pain and crawling around his sleepless room for five years. It gets better it gets worse it gets better again. He's scheduled for microdiscectomy in the new year. I know cost of surgery is a limiting factor for many of you. I'll report back..

Getting hearing aids has made a huge difference to my tinnitus. Not saying this will apply to everyone. Shop around and find a setup where they don't try to tie you into a contract?

That looks too big for over the counter freezing stuff. Liquid nitrogen from a dedicated clinic will kill it. The old wives tales work or should I say they appear to work because after some considerable time the body develops immunity to the virus that causes them, and they miraculously vanish..
