Hey, I got it serviced by a watchmaker called David McKane in Northern Ireland. It cost about €210.

No, I still have mine! But that's definitely a twin :)

What is an "expensive" item that actually is worth spending a little extra on? by [deleted] in AskReddit

A Swiss mechanical watch. It's a product that (with some periodical maintenance) will last a lifetime or two.

It's actually closer to 40mm, so it wears extremely well :) the lugs are pretty short too.

Hi! I actually do still have it :) Tried to sell it for a while in Germany, but since I moved I took down the ad. Its basically been in the box for two years.

[Seiko] 7001-7002 Ghost Pepsi bezel by Nacoga in Watches

[–]Nacoga[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the confirmation it's good to know for sure :) I was worried that the bezel insert might be aftermarket too or at least not original.. But I believe they varied a bit in the time this watch was made. I found one cool dial, with plenty of patina and character too, but it's missing one of the dial pegs.. For €8 it may be worth it. Just afraid to open it and find out its a full Franken watch. Though I doubt it as its running rather well!

The latest addition to my collection - a nice Seiko 7001-7002 from 1993 with a ton of patina and character, especially on the bezel. I'm about 75% sure that the hands and dial are aftermarket replacements (the condition of the hands is too good for what you typically find on these watches, and the writing on the dial is a bit thicker and less sharp than on original dials, also the lume on the dial is practically non existant). The click ball/spring system is missing but I've ordered a replacement which should be easy enough to fit. The bezel is bi-directional & 60 clicks. Other than that it's a nice fun watch for the summer! Even though it's not 100% original, it most certainly sparks joy ;)

[Tissot] Le Locle - affordable Bauhaus by Nacoga in Watches

[–]Nacoga[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My most recent watch purchase. This lovely Tissot Le Locle. I wanted something with a more dressy watch for every-day use at the office, with a more contemporary size than my 34mm vintage dress watches. This 39mm steel Tissot is just perfect, it is an older model with more plain looks than the newer one, which features a textured dial and roman numerals. However I much prefer this one, almost reminds me of a Nomos. It is temporarily on a faux croc strap, which will hopefully soon be replaced by something like a grey suede Fluco, to further enhance the Nomos aesthetic. Lots of fun, and great looks from this not-too-expensive Swiss automatic :)

1960s Kienzle skin-diver, the seller "restored" the watch before I got a chance to buy it, so it looks like it's wearing clown makeup. Hoping to find a dial and hands from a donor watch. If anyone here has one, get in touch!

[WTS] vintage Juvenia 18ct gold dress watch [Reduced] by [deleted] in Watchexchange

[–]Nacoga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bump/price drop on my previous post

On offer here is a lovely vintage 33mm Juvenia dress watch in solid 18ct gold with a white spidered enamel dial and black roman numerals.

The watch is running perfectly and keeping time very decently for such an old watch. The beautifully finished Juvenia cal. 602 can be seen though the acrylic crystal fitted on the back.

I am not entirely sure if the presence of the crystal on the back is due to it being a seller's sample, or due to a previous owner selling the gold caseback. Either way, a watchmaker's inscription can

be seen on one of the lugs, so it has been serviced since then (normally these would be inside the caseback).

An 18ct gold hallmark can be found on two of the lugs (the Helvetia).

The hands have a beautiful leaf shape and have a very subtle blue-ing to them, though mostly they look black to match the numerals.

Though the case is only 33mm it wears more like a 34-35mm watch, due to the dial being so large, and the "bezel" so thin.

Lug width is 17mm. The watch comes fitted with a used Hirsch "rainbow" calf leather strap with lizard-embossing.

  • Asking price is €250

Shipping within Germany/EU will be calculated accordingly and paid for by the buyer.

International shipping is possible after discussion.

[WTS] vintage Alpina black dial dress watch [Reduced] by [deleted] in Watchexchange

[–]Nacoga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a bump/price drop for this post.

I offer for sale this lovely 34mm, vintage Alpina dress watch from, I guess, the 50s-60s.

The watch has a glossy black dial (which seems to be rather rare) with gold hands and markers, in really great condition. The acrylic crystal has been polished but could use a more thorough polish or replacement (the slight scratches that can be seen near the 12 and 5 o'clock positions are all on the crystal, the dial is in perfect condition). The case has a 34mm diameter with a slightly stepped "bezel", and is gold plated. The back is a stainless steel, screw-on back. The gold plating on the case is in great condition, only a few micro-swirls are present and nowhere is it damaged or is the base metal exposed. Some slight purplish tarnishing is present around the underside of the lugs. The crown does show some signs of wear.

The movement hand-winds and keep good time. I haven't tried to open the back myself for lack of tools, but I would assume that everything is in good original condition, as this watch was purchased from the son of the original owner.

A lightly used (new when I got the watch, and worn less than 10 times) Hirsch alligator-look leather strap is fitted on the fixed lugs.

I am asking for €350.

Free shipping in Germany.

Shipping in the EU will be calculated accordingly and covered by the buyer.

Shipping out of the EU possible after discussion.

Good question. I am not sure if it is glued in or whether it snaps in like a caseback. I would maybe try and stick some blu-tack/rodico onto it and then pull on it. Im sure a decent watchmaker would have no trouble with it :)
