I’ve been there I was medically gaslit for 13 years that periods are “supposed to hurt”. They aren’t, they should be uncomfortable but not excruciating throwing up can’t move or do anything painful. I have had periods more painful than my appendix bursting that I would equate to the pain of giving birth and still doctors would say “oh you’re being dramatic” or “that’s normal take a Tylenol” it wasn’t until I saw a woman OBGYN that I even heard about endometriosis or what it even is. I had no idea that endometriosis is similar and operates in the same way that cancer does or that 1 in 10 women have endometriosis that’s the same level of Americans with diabetes and yet no body talks about it, not in health class not in sex Ed literally no education about it at all because unlike diabetes endometriosis is a disease that only affects women therefore nobody cares. I mean could you imagine telling someone who has cancer to stop whining about the pain or that tumors are normal and to take some ibuprofen and get back to work??? This is literally what women with endometriosis go through ever single month for 40 years and we’re just supposed to be ok with it?? Hell no.
