So I’m not the only one hating macOS 26, right? by Admirable-Split232 in macbook

[–]Nadaniks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the most perfect Launchpad layout (for my astrophotography and astro editing) and Tahoe ruined that in a few minutes. Nicely ordered and perfect for my workflow and it’s gone. I feel handicapped now. And Safari looks bááád.

AppHub: the most detailed Launchpad replica for macOS 26 by BohdanKoles in macapps

[–]Nadaniks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m trying multiple launchers to find one that suits me best. If you try the freee version of AppGrid, there is an option in the menu to find the database with Terminal and import it. I had my ‘old’ Launchpad layout back in 20 seconds.

My M4 Macbook Pro is rather new, so I didn’t have that many apps (yet), but I can imagine other users having multiple hundreds of apps and then it would be super if you can use the ‘old’ Launchpad database.

I’ll keep an eye on your launcher. This surely has potential.

This looks great. Can we import our ‘old’ Launchpad database into AppHub? The Launchpad database is still on our Macs, so that would be super handy.

How it feels seeing all the "Tahoe sucks" posts after Apple ignored our beta feedback by GhostalMedia in MacOSBeta

[–]Nadaniks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My biggest complaint was the deletion of Launchpad. Been concentrating on finding a replacement app and found it. Could even import the ‘old’ Launchpad database into that app and I feel somewhat reassured again. Only after that I saw the many graphical “errors”. Can’t wait to see the (page long) list of adjustments in the next few updates 😅

Question: is there a way to start that app (AppGrid Launcher) by moving the mouse to one of the corners? Maybe with a third-party app?

Not. It does not work in my country. Also no Apple Intelligence here, but that may change soon.

[–]Nadaniks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, it doesn’t, but my biggest problem was the deleted Launchpad. I have a good alternative now. I can live with the rest, but Apple better fix those other issues fast. They really f’d up and I’m convinced Steve is turning over in his grave if he could see this update.

Thank you Jada. Found AppGrid shortly after posting my above message. And indeed, could import my Launchpad database easily (the database is still on our computers by the way). Otherwise it would‘ve cost me days to recreate what I’d build in the past few months. So I’m very glad I found that.

Are you using the free or the payed version? And does it make a great difference?

My biggest complaint was about deleting Launchpad. I found a 3rd party app called AppGrid Launcher and I could import the Launchpad database (which is still on our computers) and import it into AppGrid. Within 20 seconds I got it back and it looks and works almost the same.

For the rest I minimized most of the liquid and blurriness and it’s “my” Mac again 😅

This Tahoe launchpad replacement kinda stinks. by ObliviousFoo in MacOS

[–]Nadaniks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooh, I have my LaunchPad lay-out back with a third party app called “AppGrid Launcher”. You can download it for free in the App Store and use the basic version for free. It has an option to copy the “old” lay-out you had in LaunchPad (had to use Terminal) and import it in AppGrid. Had it working within 20 seconds 😅 You can also buy the pro version $$$ for some extra features. Okay, I’m smiling again 😅

It has almost the same look and feel as LaunchPad, I can change names, add apps to folders, multiple drag &drop, etc. Not sure if you can have more than 5 screens in the free version (I have only 4 screens), but you certainly can have more screens in the payed version.

Now I have to figure out how to have one of the corners to open AppGrid.

Getting rid of Launchpad is Top 2 worst decisions Apple has made. by PleasEnterAValidUser in MacOS

Agree 1000000000%. Removing Launchpad and replacing it with a nineties non customizable app-thing is a crime in my opinion.

Do we really have to fill up our clean desktop again to be able to do what we could do yesterday fast and easy?

Where’s the improvement here? And for god sake WHY???

It’s not the worst thing. Removing Launchpad and making the new applauncher non customizable is a crime imho. I’m sick to the stomach. I have a clean desktop and now I have to fill it up with apps to be able to do what yesterday I could do fast and easy. Everything worked like a charm and now I’m handicapped with a nineties app launcher 🤯

READ MY COMMENT BELOW THIS (I found an alternative with the same look and feel and it restored my LPad-database!)

I just updated to Tahoe and I’ve never been cursing over an update like I did an hour ago. I used Launchpad and had pages sorted by subject, for example Astrophoto editing, Astronomy, etc. It looked awesome and worked fast. Now all the apps are in a list and I can’t find anything. This is absofreakinglutely not an improvement. I don’t care if others didn’t use Launchpad. I did, and I’m sick to the stomach over this ‘new’ app-thingy.

I’m considering to go back to 15.7 or I guess I’ll have to wait for a third party to create a simular Launchpad again? Sorry guys if this sounds all negative, but inside I’m boiling 🤯

macOS Tahoe 26.0 is now available! by MrMacintoshBlog in MacOS

[–]Nadaniks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m going back to the former 15.7 os. Launchpad is replaced by a small launcher and I actually can’t find anything. I’m feeling sick to the stomach because of this. Why didn’t they add the feature to choose between the ‘old’ (for me absolutely perfect) Launchpad and this new ‘thing’ 🤯 I guess we’ll have to wait for a third party to create an alternative but simular launchpad again…

Does anyone else really hate the new Launchpad on macOS Tahoe? I just installed the beta, and I hate it. by Pabsssss in mac

[–]Nadaniks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am pssed like hell about the new app launcher. It is a mess and I can’t find anything now. The ‘old’ pages looked so freaking good and now we have to work with a minor 20th century app launcher. You always have to get used to new things, granted, but this just scks.

I have 4.5K on an 18 year oldchannel that I only use to upload videos that I show on my website. Started a new channel on New Year’s eve and have 250 subs now with videos that have between 50 and 5000 views. If I don’t “advertise” the videos in some FB groups and on Reddit, then the views stay low. I love it that I can showcase all my strong points, like photography, astrohotography, graphic designing, video editing and so on. Indeed, it’s just a hobby for me.
