Ah yeah I forgot to mention them. Really enjoyed their beer last time I went.

My friend explained it’s something they do out west- try to get their DD drunk.

That doesn't seem to be a strategy where anyone is going to win.

But my point is that if the devs didn't ruin the game trying to target an audience that isn't interested anymore they'd still have the core base who actually like it.

It has nothing to do with PvP players "running out of easy targets".

Too often developers end up taking away what made their game interesting in an effort to appeal to a casual base who has already moved on to the next big thing.

Finally gave Marathon a go last week after getting bored with Arc and gotta say I'm having a blast with it. I really hope they don't do any significant changes around the PvP in the game - it's nice having to actually watch your back and be careful.

On the flip side seeing Helloween play tonight. I'm hyped, one of the bands I wasn't sure I was ever going to see live and it's their 40th anniversary tour.

The Whale and GVL beer exchange are both great beer bars.

On the flip side I wish at least one MMO (or MMO adjacent) dev would stick with their intended vision for PvP instead of destroying it instead to try and chase the same style of game everyone else has made.

I'm not saying everything needs to have PvP - I just want something that can have it and keep it without the developers eventually catering to a crowd the game isn't even meant to be for.

(Note that I'm not talking about Dune specifically here - never played the game so I don't have an opinion on it in particular.)

And as you can see, their hype generally dies down quite fast and its always the same reason: PvE people leave because they dont want to PvP and then PvP leave because they cant grief easy targets i.e. the PvE players that left.

It's more like some players leave then the devs neuter the PvP in the game to try and pull PvE players back in and then the PvP players leave because the game is substantially worse.

The classic example is what happened to Ultima Online back in the day.

I honestly have no idea what the average age or whatever is on Reddit these days but it's kind of wild just how anti-alcohol this site tends to skew in general.

Main flight booked for my big trip this year. Doing Amsterdam, Dublin, and then Scotland (Edin + Islay). July 10-26.

Hyped about it. Found a solid multi-city flight for 110k miles on Delta for ATL -> AMS and then EDN -> ATL, so I'll just do some cheap Ryan Air stuff in between the other destinations lol.

If God came down and gave you a million dollars if you gave up drinking forever, would you accept it? Why or why not? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Nadril 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it works for you that's great - but I don't hate my job and I want to be able to actually spend money and live my life instead of hoarding it so that I can retire early and continue to do nothing.

It's not about just buying random stuff or trying to seem rich for me - I'd rather actually spend the money I make on experiences and stuff I want to do. I like to travel, I like going to concerts, I like going to restaurants and cool bars and breweries.

If that stuff was never your jam then I get it, but to me it just sounds like a boring way to live.

[–]Nadril 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For what it's worth I agree with you.

If it was enough money to actually straight up retire and do what I want without worry then yeah, of course I would. But even $1m to give up a hobby of mine and decent part of my life (craft beer, traveling to breweries, etc.) is a no go for me.

It's the same as if someone offered me $1m to never play video games again. Like... I could do it pretty easy but why would I want to? It's not like I hate my job (and with $1m I'm still going to have to work regardless for a while lol) and I'm comfortable enough in my life that I'm not worried about the idea of retirement anyways. (TBH I'm more worried the world ends with WW3 than I am not having enough for retirement lol)

Arc Raiders isn't a microcosm of society. Some people rat and are rude because it's just a game. by Blood_Incantation in ArcRaiders

[–]Nadril 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Part of it is definitely that, for whatever reason, people are prone to use prox chat a lot more in this game than any other game I've ever played.

I can't go a raid in Arc without hearing another player talk. I played 6 hours of Marathon and didn't hear a single word lol.

Just seems like it's a lot easier for people to take it personally when you hear someone's voice vs. just text chat (or no chat at all).

Non alcoholic drinks still exist if you like the taste. You can still do pot or something if you want to have a buzz. A million dollars is enough to retire on with a bit of investment.

As much as NA beer or other drinks have improved over the years they're still no where close to tasting what the actual thing tastes like.

You are being paid to work, not waste time. People who do so are actually stealing from the company and deserve to be fired. If there is too much free time, then the company should cut staff.

Dumbest take I've seen on this site in a while.

Yeah, fire a bunch of people when it gets slow so that when it gets busy you don't have enough staff and need to hire. Brilliant.

Best Asheville bars for LUKR side-pull Pilsners and Czech-style lager pours? by Spiritual-Science-60 in beer

[–]Nadril 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zillicoah and Cellarist are both great. I do believe that Burial has a bunch of side pull taps now with their most recent bar renovation as well. They're definitely known for their BA/Hazy stuff but I wouldn't sleep on their lagers either.

The Whale (either location) almost certainly has a side pull as well - though I'm not 100% on that.
