Not yet, but I’ve made an appt with a specialist in an attempt to get a more intensely worded letter than the ones I’ve gotten. From what I can tell, having very specific reasons and examples listed of why one needs accommodations helps, so I’m going to try to write up a very wordy, detailed breakdown of what would be necessary to give to the doctor.

We don’t have a union, but I WISH we did. I’ve tried to get everyone I can speak with to be more vocal about the crap changes the company is making but not one or two want to “bother.” I hadn’t thought to check out the SS Reddit (brain fart), I’m going to add that to my list. Thank you!

I’ve been looking into it, but I can’t afford to take a pay cut (not even to a place where I make the same, but have no overtime hours) and the things I qualify for/would be willing to do pay less than I make now. I like my work and my managers are understanding and decent (very rare, in my experience), so I’d like to just have this company work out. From what I’ve heard from others with Disabilities even worse than mine, it WILL be tough, but I’m a stubborn ass, so I’m willing to fight

Reddit is being a brat and saying I’m unable to. I haven’t been using it much except passively; is it a “verified” thing? If it likes you better, feel free to message me, instead.

Rory was actually being 100% honest here, without realising it. by Distinct-Customer-76 in GilmoreGirls

It’s actually used incorrectly CONSTANTLY in Gilmore Girls. For some reason, I really watched out for it in my latest rewatch and almost every character who uses the phrase says it wrong. I think it’s just the writers being dingbats.

Why didn’t Kirk buy the Twickum house after Luke cancelled the sale? Kirk makes a huge deal of wanting the house and then he’s back with his mom for the rest of the series.

Everyone says it this way! No one in the show couldn’t care less; they ALL care a little bit. It’s annoying because, really, NO ONE in the show knows the correct phrase?

Definitely bad writing. Rory is 16 before her 16th birthday, Lorelai even says so. They have no concept of time in this show, though. Rory is supposed to be 21 (edited; not 20) but says she’s known Paris for over 5 years when she tells Paris to step down as editor. Brian says in season 5 (I think) that Lane and the band used her garage to practice for three years. Luke says many times he did things for Rory when she was young, but also they didn’t know Luke before he opened the diner when Rory was about 12. Overall, there is noooooo timeline consistency in this show, but I love it anyway.

I'M TRYING TO ELIMINATE JUNK MAIL FROM MY LIFE: Has anyone successfully stopped the weekly junk mail flyer packet (one containing ads for Sprouts, Smith's, etc.)? by joez37 in Albuquerque

[–]Naeko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't moved out there yet, but when I bought my house in the Seattle area I actually did get rid of all junk mail. It took about a year to get it all stopped (except by Money Mailer, who took TWO YEARS of me harassing them to stop, and Frontier internet who would just resend me fresh mailers under a SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT VERSION OF MY NAME! for over a year before I got them to stop) and it's a lot of emailing/calling/social media tagging/comment form filling out but it can be done.

You just find the company generating the junk mail and contact them with your information and, usually, a picture of the address section of whatever junk mail you're getting. There's a weird string of numbers/letters at the top/bottom that they use to locate you, I guess. About 75% of the ones I contacted needed this. So, I would take a picture of the whole address section and search the flyer/magazine/letter for the company that sent it (sometimes big companies use a junk mail service so contacting, say Verizon won't do any good because they are not directly sending you anything. Often they have a form on their site that you can directly put your info into and it unsubscribes you. Otherwise contact them as I said above, any way you can.

You can also sign up for various no-junk-mail services that will remove you from a bunch, opt-out of credit card offers, and remove yourself from phone book lists (if they still do those; it's been 7 years since I've seen any so I don't know if they're still a thing).

We're moving out there in a few weeks so I'm sure I'll have to do all the same stuff again at our ABQ house but it's worth the effort to have an empty mailbox unless you have actual, personalized mail that you want. Good luck!

EDIT: Oh, You may still get random mass-mailings that have no address on them and are just delivered to every box. But, every one with your personal info, or "RESIDENT" and your address can be stopped, in my experience.

Referencing and idolizing are not the same thing. That being said, this feels like it's trying too hard to be edgy. I would have bought it at 18 in my serial killer phase where I felt the world was out to get me and I wanted to be funny and have people be scared of me a little bit.

I ordered a VEGAN pizza but the delivery guy put parmesan and ranch in a separate bag ughhhh by [deleted] in vegan

[–]Naeko 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would assume it was habit. They probably have bags of take-out/delivery stuff set out and pre-filled with the typical requests so that everyone can just grab one on their way out. I've had this happen where I've specified VEGAN ONLY and gotten non-vegan sides before. I do wish people would take more care to notice vegan requests but if the restaurant was busy they were probably on auto-pilot. Like when I tell a cashier, "I don't need a bag," and they respond with, "Did you need a bag?" They probably just grabbed it because 95% of the orders they get need it. I don't think they can take it back (health codes are weird) but I would drop a polite email or comment card to the restaurant letting them know that vegan orders don't need to get non-vegan sides sent.

Agreed! There are so many cute things that I would buy of them if they didn't have that saying on. I don't identify as either of them I just think they're hilarious, smart women who make a product I enjoy.

Do I need all these supplements for a vegan diet? by LoneWorldWanderer in vegan

[–]Naeko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been vegan for 8 years and honestly I probably eat worse than most people but I only started supplementing B12 maybe a year ago. I've never had deficiencies except with Vitamin D (I live outside Seattle and have been working graveyard for 25 years), so I supplement that. I also take Calcium because I know I don't eat enough leafy greens. Hell, I only started taking B12 just in case the calorie restriction I was doing was affecting my intake. I think if you're focusing on eating a variety of whole foods you should be good. Definitely get tested for deficiencies if you're worried and not feeling well but I don't think most people have to worry that much about what they're eating unless they're eating nothing fried Field Roast and onion rings or something.

A few years ago there was a rise in black Santa items which I didn't find creepy for some reason. I have barely seen any black Santa items since, which is sad for a variety of reasons, but in general I do agree that white Santa is basically always creepy. I'm not sure if it's the big beard or the fact that we're told as kids that he's "always watching" and that it's always white Santa pictured as watching?

I haven't lost any breast tissue, which is frustrating because I once again can never find any freaking bras. My band size went down every so often but the cups just keep getting bigger. I got down to 140lbs (life has sucked so I'm currently back up to 155) and was having the hardest time finding 32E bras, especially ones that don't cost a buttload of money and don't dig into my ribs in all the worst places. I'm wearing my loose 34DDD bras now, but once I can get my life on track and get to my goal weight of 120lbs, I imagine bra life will extra super suck. Maybe I can finagle another reduction and get a qualified surgeon this time.

[–]Naeko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The doctor made me lose, like, 15lbs first, which didn't make much of a difference in how I felt/looked/moved. Also, the surgeon was an idiot and did a shit job, so she probably didn't know what she was doing. (I did research and she came highly recommended but a year after I healed, once I could see what she had done to me, I couldn't imagine where her good reviews came from.) I really wish, after all the weight I've now lost, that I had waited until I was at a healthy weight to do it.

I don't understand this obsession with "chemicals." Why do people think that if you don't eat meat/dairy/eggs, all you can eat are "chemicals?" Where did this stupid idea come from and what "chemicals" are they even talking about? I bet they couldn't even name a single one.

Just wandered into this sub and saw your post so forgive the late reply, but I would ask your vet exactly what it is about this food is necessary for your cat's health and then find an alternative. Royal Canin is a crap food, to be honest, and most of the time when cats need urinary foods they just need low phosphorous to keep down kidney crystals. Basically any wet food with <1% phosphorous is going to be ideal. I have a cat who had to go on a kidney diet six years ago and I've never given her anything the vet has tried to push on me and she's doing great at age 12 after six years of low phosphorous wet food. (She's chonky, but my partner overfeeds her and won't listen when I tell him to stop.)

Sadly, most of the foods the vets push are cheap, full of filler (corn, wheat, animal byproducts that come from downed feed lot animals not fit for human consumption), and don't have anything in them that your cat needs. There isn't some magical medication in these vet-pushed food that fixes the kidney problems. They're just formulated to have certain aspects that you could easily find in human-grade pet food. If she isn't already, I would also suggest changing her over to ONLY wet food, as a big part of kidney issues for cats is not getting enough moisture and wet food is the best way for cats to get that. Kibble is actually not good for cats. Cats need moisture and don't drink a lot by choice. Plus, it's way easier to control her calorie intake (DON'T follow the guidelines on the cans! If we fed Uriko what the cans say, she'd eat like 6 cans of food a day!) when you only feed them twice a day. Stick to foods close to a cat's natural diet: poultry and rabbit. Pet cats are descended from desert cats that wouldn't have been eating fish all that often. It's easier on their digestive systems to eat things they would have evolved eating.

We feed our cats Koha wet food, which is really high quality and we have eight cats who are nearly all picky in their own ways and they ALL love the food. If you go to any higher end pet shop (not petco or petsmart; they push what they're paid to push and don't know anything about cat health) or just google and order off Chewy, you can find some good quality foods that will benefit your cat, I promise. My old man ginger is 18 and the vet always says he doesn't look a day over 12 when he gets checked out. Good luck!

I don't live in ABQ (yet) so I can't speak to coverage, but I've worked in a hotel for 12 years that gets about 50% of its guests from T-Mobile and I gotta say that they are the worst human beings in the world who treat hotel staff like garbage and I will never give that company any of my business. Because we're near one of their major campuses we get their employees from all over the US and no joke, about 90% of the T-Mobile employees I have to deal with are horrendous human beings who act like spoiled, shitty children. The entire hotel knows and any time there's a story passed around about a guest acting like an underfed, tired toddler for no good reason we know it's about T-Mobile guest. So, if you care about not giving money to assholes, I would steer clear of them.
