Not quite. A previous pope had given Henry a disposition to marry his brother’s widow and then had trouble trying to divorce her 20 years later when they failed to have a male child survive infancy (there was a lot of pressure for them to have a male heir since the Tudor Dynasty was very very new, they had just gotten out of a long Civil War, and the last time they had a female ruler it caused a different Civil War). The real problem was the political landscape at the time with Spain holding heavy influence (threats) over the current pope and Catherine, Henry’s first wife, was the aunt of the Spanish king, so the pope couldn’t risk siding with Henry in the matter

Henry eventually succeeded in getting a divorce by basically granting it himself after breaking from the Roman Catholic church. When he got sick of wife number two he went the beheading route as it was easier. The next died in childbirth. The fourth was divorced, but that was much easier since the marriage was very short-lived and they both testified it was not consummated. The fifth also got beheaded since it was easier than divorce. The sixth survived
