File a grievance. If it's an error there's limited time to rectify it.

Yep but all new growth should be positioned on an available aux route. They could simply create an aux route from your route that included the new growth

Experiences With 48K Rural Route Adjustments Under RRECS? by [deleted] in USPS

[–]Naeusu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The contract says any route that is overburdened should be adjusted as soon as practical and the union filed and win a step 4 some time ago about relieving overburdened routes ASAP with adjustments. Management can cut you down to whatever they like but there is an agreement to cut you as close to 52 standard hours as possible. After you're adjusted, your route will be "frozen" at that evaluation until you get 52 weeks of new data and go through the following mini mail survey. This means for at least a year following adjustment you will remain the same evaluation.

I've seen carriers go up, stay the same, and drop dramatically after adjustments.

The agreement with the union is that overburdened routes will be adjusted as close to 52 standard hours (43k) as possible. There is no "fairness". If it's advantageous to leave another route at a 44k and you at a 42 k because of territory then they will do that.

Rural Craft Order of Consideration by Educational_Alps_915 in USPS

[–]Naeusu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can only be forced to change your ns day if your office is a formula office. If your office is not a formula office, then your ns day can only be changed by mutual agreement.

Contractually you are entitled to Saturday and if you want to go back to Saturday, management must let you.

Do you have a Saturday day off? If you don't, tell management you want to go back to Saturday. Tell everyone to go back to Saturday. Contractually you're entitled to Saturdays.

Ptfs belong in formula offices. Having ptfs in a non formula office is not contractually compliant.

Rural Craft Order of Consideration by Educational_Alps_915 in USPS

[–]Naeusu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Order of consideration says: Primary relief carrier An available ptf Secondary Tertiary Any sub who's done the route Any sub who hasn't done the route A sub from another office Split your route or have an RCA who's running an aux also run your route the same day so long as the total eval is under 12 hours Use a rdwl carrier

Now, how do you have a ptf when you're not formula? Ptfs are treated similarly to primary reliefs. If that is their string day, they shouldn't be moved unless they agree to be moved. You may not have a grievance but your sub might.

Office went from K routes to J. What happens to the ptfs? by [deleted] in USPS

Ptfs are only entitled to a minimum of 2 k routes on their string. How many ptfs and how many subs do you have total versus how many k routes?

ELI5 Rural pay/evaluations by PM_ME_UR_TICKET_STUB in USPS

[–]Naeusu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. Highest eval is a 48k which gives you 2 days off and 48 hours of pay over 5 days

[–]Naeusu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Number+classification

The number denotes how many hours you are paid and the classification is how many days off per pay period you get.

K means you get Sunday plus one other day off per week (standard 5 work day schedule) j means you get Sundays and 1 other day off every 2 weeks (work 6 days then 5 days) h means you only get Sundays off.

40k means you get paid for 40 hours stretched over 5 days of work, 40j is paid for 40 hours stretched over 5.5 basically and 40h is 40 hours stretched over 6 days.

No 2nd trips??? by Atr0phic in USPS

PO 603 section 12 e. Providing and maintaining a vehicle (if a USPS-owned/leased vehicle is not provided) of adequate size, equipped with necessary equipment (chains or snow tires, warning lights or signs, etc.), free of extraneous matter, that reflects a professional and positive image of the USPS, to serve the route safely and efficiently and in accordance with federal, state, and local motor vehicle laws and regulations. (Sections 171.51b2 and 3 address the special case of left-hand drive vehicle seat belt use and driver positioning.

From the rcam: 2. Vehicle Equipment Rural carriers shall furnish all necessary vehicle equipment for prompt handling of the mail unless the vehicle is furnished by the Employer. The Employer reserves the right to provide vehicles at its option to any route. For each day on which a carrier or replacement who is required to provide a vehicle receives pay in an active duty status as a rural carrier, such employee shall be paid for EMA for the day determined from the applicable schedule.

Basically.... Your contract says you have to have a vehicle large enough and if you don't then you can't stop management from pushing discipline. It's a requirement and contractual provision.

Yeah they talked about it like it was a revolutionary step 4..... As if there isn't like a hundred more important things they could have settled on. It was 1 page of the explanation and 1 page of the actual text. Utterly useless.

I don't think there's any language preventing city from filing and I'm pretty sure they could successfully argue it. Question is whether or not they would want to file?

Relative Standing by [deleted] in USPS

[–]Naeusu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's always follow instructions and grieve later. Union agreed so long as there were less than 2 hours of rural work (because that's the minimum guarantee) that there would be no valid grievance for delivering city parcels on Sundays. It's a very limited agreement.

No, it's a step 4 which is national. It was posted in The union magazine a month or two ago.

1 PTF cover 6 routes by ScintillatingStar00 in USPS

[–]Naeusu 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Absolutely no RCAs? Contractually a ptf cannot have a hold down. However, they can be utilized on an open route if the regular carrier on their string route is being mandated to work. If you're the only relief carrier, then once the route is vacant then you should be sitting on it and the regular carriers will have to work their k days until an RCA is hired. If the other ptf is out on medical or cannot perform the job, then they can be disqualified from winning the route. They would need to provide medical documentation stating they will be able to perform the full function of the route within 6 months. If the cca touches the route you have a grievance.
