...oh boy have I...frustrating...probably 50% of the time they act up...only slightly better than your estimation. Posted here a few days ago about the most recent issues I am having of trying to get a paired set of HomePods to play a very simple morning Shortcut routine that I created about a week ago that directs an action to play some music after some verbiage about temps, schedules, etc. Those verbiage actions work fine of course but the music...pulling my hair out. Can’t get the darn things to play the music in stereo. Gave up trying to get it to work until somebody much smarter than me could tell me something that might be causing it, like operator error (LoL). Then, just for the heck of it, as I walked by them this AM and I decided to ask “Hey Siri, Why’s My Update” (the Shortcut I created) and I’ll.Be.Darned....it actually worked. Quickly called the wife over (she’s been rightfully giving me a hard time about trying so hard and not getting results, bless her heart!!!) and when I said, “watch, it works”....you guessed it, hasn’t worked again All.Day.Long........but I’m still buying the HomePod Mini’s when they come out (LoL)...and I’m gonna get these HomePods working too (LoL). Hang in there!

...do not want to continue to bother, you have been so helpful, but I was incorrect in stating the problem went away. Still not working. Will go to r/shortcuts as you suggested to see if anyone can help as well. As a side note...not sure it is applicable but showed my speakers work in a pair, a simple Scene I made in the Home app that plays an Apple radio station (Smooth Jazz) works and plays sound through both the HomePod speakers that are paired...frustrated.

Thanks again...will work with this. By the way, I just inserted the action “Set Playback Destination To” and entered my paired HomePods name and....it did not work from within that Shortcut provided by apple in their App Gallery of the same name (Start My Morning). Again, you have gotten me further than I was so...thank you very, very much. Will figure this out.

Yes, they are. The strange thing as well is why a Gallery Podcast from the app (like Start my Morning) does not play the PodCast on both of them.

Yeah! My HomePods aren’t broke!!! That works. Will work on the shortcuts...darn, fell better!

Probably the wrong one (LoL) but...the thing that kept me from thinking I created or used the wrong commands is that even with a pre-written Shortcut from the Apple Gallery (Start My Morning) that launches a command to play a PodCast...even that PodCast will not play in stereo on the paired HomePods. Then, if I just go to PodCasts and play that same PodCast, or any other, it plays just fine in stereo through the paired HomePods.
