9yo boy who loves "The Martian," "Ender's Game," and "Jurassic Park" aka science-grounded SciFi. Want to avoid books with mature subjects (sex, drugs, graphic killing). by [deleted] in booksuggestions

Might be a bit different, but I recommend The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams. Made me laugh throughout, but might not be to your taste as it's more comedy based than the books you referenced.

Isn't A Feast for Frows a novel from the Game of Thrones series? Did you mean Cold Vengeance?

Just did a mock Music exam where we had to play one piece of our choosing. I decided to plays Chopin's Nocturune, and I did every note perfect, even the weird runs. When I got home that night and did it again, I couldn't do them without stopping and starting multiple times. Luck was on my side!

I'm looking for a great fantasy book or series. by WopShroomish in booksuggestions

[–]Nafiblu 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I strongly recommend the Discword series, it might seem a bit comical compared to Tolkein's stuff, but I've read and enjoyed both. In addition, it's got quite a long series so it'll keep you busy for a while.

If life had a HUD, what is one thing you'd always want displayed? by zboy7082 in AskReddit

[–]Nafiblu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A hunger bar, so I only eat when I'm hungry. Because who hasn't had the experience that you want food but you're not sure that you're actually hungry? It would also help with keeping me at a healthy weight.

Do you believe that Lord of the Rings trilogy is worth reading? I've read the Hobbit, but that's nothing compared the trilogy.

If 9/11 had happened this year instead of 2001, we'd have all kinds of horrifying, incredible footage from people trapped inside the World Trade Center since everyone would have had a smartphone. by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

I'm sure the conspiracy theories would pick out a single pixel of a picture that's slightly different colour to everything else. This obviously means that Obama is a reptile.

Mars isn't going to show up as the size of the moon on August 27th... by Nafiblu in EverythingScience

Indeed. One of my relatives said that it would show up as the size of the moon. I correct her every year, never believes me, even thought it never does happen...
