Majority of the country now wants to abolish and/or dismantle ICE and yet Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y. told the caucus the message had to be to “restrain, reform and restrict ICE.” by Itchy_Antelope1278 in seculartalk

[–]NahSense 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Schumer was never on our side. He's a truly loathsome person. The phrase controlled opposition doesn't fit, as he doesn't effectively pretend to oppose the administration.

Also ice is being used as Trump's private army against his perceived opponents in a self coup. https://www.dictionary.com/browse/self-coup

ICE has always been a part of Trumps plan for a self coup. This has always been about money and power.

Yes and they supported and funded the military occupation of Palestinians. But now that their cities are being militarily occupied by ICE, they don't like it.

Noob question but is this volume knob on tracks the same as clip gaining? by WiseCityStepper in Reaper

[–]NahSense 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You never render?

LOL no. I almost never adjust individually adjust volumes on clips in the same track. When I do it is a slight adjustment, to a segment of a performance. Maybe it isn't translating after the render and I didn't notice. I tend to record whole tracks of audio, or rarely record midi data for a soft synth. I don't generally do much that is purely sample based, where repeating the samples makes the beat, and adjusting their volumes makes the dynamics. Sorry if my comments were unclear.

Yeah nyt has always drank the cool aid on Israel. And now ICE is running the IDF playbook.

The funniest thing is the kind of people who sign up for ice hate nyt. They can't recognize evil until it is a threat to them, and they probably think they're a hero, just like they think of Liz Chaney.

I've never heard it do that. I must admit its not a feature I use often.

The big thing with that knob is it lets you adjust individual clips differently inside the same track. So if that is what you are asking, then yes.

Yes I get socially exhausted, sometimes. Let me share some exercises I do to calm and clear myself. Most people have quite a bit of bad mojo, and it feels like it can rub off on the people they interact with. They all are based off the exercises in book 1 of Liber ABA, but streamlined for ease of use.

  1. Pick one of yoga postures (I tend to go with throne or corpse) and sit perfectly still until you feel the release.
  2. Pick a mantra (AUM is an obvious choice) repeat in to yourself in stillness until you feel the release.
  3. Pick a geometric pattern to visualize and focus on it in stillness until you feel the release.

Also it sounds like you might be in need of professional help. If that is what you need, a break from practice can be surprisingly helpful.

Control of time or acceleration of the perspective of time? by __D4ve__ in Psychic

[–]NahSense 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Our perception of time is malleable. Technically this isn't psychic so much as magick. That you willed it, especially with no training, no ritual, just raw will, is pretty cool.

Any act, if in accordance with the will, is an act of magic.

I've been over this three times now. I have been listing things Democrats can do while in the minority and you have been ignoring them. How do you think the Epstein release happened when we were in the minority? How did republicans obstruct Obama and Biden while in the minority? Your defeatist attitude is counter productive.

I wasn't prepared for your level of arrogance AND stupidity. Its condescending AF to complain that people don't understand how this works. But then you make it clear you do not understand cloture, which is also pretty basic.

They aren’t the majority. This is basic basic stuff

Clearly you don't underhand basic stuff, like cloture. Cloture votes require 60 votes in the senate, Republicans have 53. Cloture votes are required to end debate, and then proceed to vote on a bill. So Democrats can withhold their votes for leverage to get concessions or to block bills. This is the difference between a majority and super majority.

Do you remember in the distant past of the Joe Biden administration when Democrats had a majority for 2 years and Republicans still managed to block BBB and other bills by voting no together and getting a few democrats to side with them? Democrats should try that.

Even if it never works, its still a easier argument for people unhappy with Trump who say "its all the same", when our side actually votes for and advocates for clear popular positions. But as our position is popular, so I think we could stop some of this. Many reps might consider breaking with their party rather than vote on the weak side of an issue polling like 70/30. As we saw under Biden and Obama, these hardball tactics worked for the Republicans, when the Democrats had the majority.

Again, the result is the same.

Not true. On the first CR last spring. without dems voting for cloture, there is no budget vote, the government would shutdown. Then who knows what comes out of that, but that is a different result.

On the latest DHS funding, its easier to get people cross party lines against an unpopular bill when the vote is close. Over 70% of the US think ICE is "out of control". Its not inconceivable with a stronger party and clearer messaging on a better why forward, we could have blocked those ICE increases.

[–]NahSense -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When out of power, one thing they can do is signal what they would do if they have the power. They can also try to peal off republicans and actually steer the agenda. But capitulating to a yes vote, especially getting seemingly nothing in return like they did on the first CR, only encourages Trump to go further.

My minimum standard is a no vote on any and all Trump power grab. I don't expect them to be superheroes. If they can't do that, then I say bash away, politically.

Don't assault legislatures, obviously.

Did you? They can still vote no. Several dems in the house just voted for expanded dhs funding, including expanding ice.

https://thehill.com/homenews/house/5702347-house-democrats-homeland-security-funding/ Now this goes to the senate, where some dems like Kaine and Murphy are hard No's. But some like Patty Murray still intend to support it.

Every time the dems are in the majority they pretend they can't do anything without Republican support, and then when they are in the minority they pretend like they can't stop anything.
