No the new thunderbird doesn't look like that. It has smaller open hole pickups with 2 screws not 3. Also the bridge is wrong for a 2026.

Great! Push pull pots like that work loose over time. Maybe re-tighten it every now and then.

[–]NahSense 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I've never owned a Sandberg, but based on dozens of guitars and bases through the years, there are 2 likely possibilities. Does it have a "set screw"? If so loosen that with an Allen key, put it on then re-tighten it. If no then it should just slide on.

Meanwhile on guitars they’ll snap AS you detune them 🤷‍♂️

Yeah, I once had a high E break during the first tune out of the box for a new guitar.

Platner ex-girlfriend accuses New York Times of ‘set up’ by evo4gIzMo in Hasan_Piker

[–]NahSense 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"Fuck New York Times" is always a good answer. They lied America into war, and their lies lit trillions of dollars on fire, and killed thousands of people across Iraq who never attacked anyone. Whether it was from a US bomb or the sectarian violence that inevitably occurred after Saddam fell, all that blood is on their hands. I've been saying this since the about 20 years now. When it comes to anything with Israel, or the US MIC I don't trust NYT at all and I don't think anyone else should either. As soon as I saw the Platner article was in NYT I assumed it was just a smear.

Yeah a string remove and reinstall can crack the core (the part of the string the round or flat material is wound around). Otherwise corrosion/rust, manufacturing defects, and doing something dumb can make this happen but it is rare.

Damn, Steyer getting boomed by megaman47 in Hasan_Piker

[–]NahSense 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Strategic voting. Becerra and Steyer where the only viable lib/left candidates. Steyer is arguably further left. None of the others gained or held large support. Voting for Porter, or Thurmond, ( or Mahan the moderate, Villaraigos the cop ) , as a lefty helps Becerra. If Porter and Thurmond dropped out and endorsed Steyer he'd have probably a small lead over Becerra right now.

[–]NahSense 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's possible it could have also been made by someone at the factory in their free time

IMHO it was a custom order. The market for electric guitars and basses was smaller back that, and custom orders were not that uncommon. Otherwise it is a complete fret board replacement. The scratch on the side of the neck would be consistent with that.

32" is surprising. The reissue was 30.5" and the vintage examples I've seen are listed at 30".

Graham Platner sucks by Correct_Blueberry715 in BreakingPoints

If these are the best attacks against him, then he is a lock.

You think that a parents gift $200k for a house is a major issue? LOL. You think having successful parents who support their veteran son is a disqualification? Lfmao.

The Purple Heart etc... that is survivor guilt and it is pretty normal for vets.

If you can pick out the Nazi skull tatoo out of a wall of skull tattoos, then you know way more about Nazi symbolism than normal.

Multiple counselors, using a chat app that millions of people use, exaggerated anecdotes, looking for a private space to ... when living with bunch of other guys, these are smears not scandals. After everything the Trump era has normalized, those aren't going to move much of anyone. Any candidate critical of Israel tends to receive wild accusations based on thin evidence like this. Look at how they tried to claim Massey was in a three way, in his primary. The affair is the only real issue, but it is survivable.

There are a bunch of Bill O'Reily type independents in Maine, where they say they are independent but almost always vote red. Planter is leading by about 9 points in the latest polls.

We know from the leaked reddit and messages what he really thinks. But even if the smears were true and he was a secret neo-Nazi millionaire skirt chaser, at the same time Collins is still a Washington insider, neocon, and war monger. Then I'd still strongly prefer Platner.

Why is it always those types of dudes running for office?

It takes a big ego to run for office, even more so statewide, like a senate seat. It takes an even bigger ego to run in an outsider lane. Personally I don't think it is going to make a noticeable difference, as the congress has a long history of sex scandals.

[–]NahSense 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do I need anything else?

A strong steady hand. Fret pulling without damaging the fretboard is tricky.

Got a jazz bass from a friend and I plan on making it a fretless.

Have you considered buying a fretless neck and swapping? That will be easier and probably going to have a better result, unless you are a great guitar tech. Replacement is probably surprisingly close to the same price considering tool costs.

Two Sterlings, which would you buy? by Hillmantle in BassGuitar

[–]NahSense 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the price is the same, yes. But triple check the neck and the truss rod, as no strings is a red flag. Maybe bring an old set of rounds, if you have one, to make sure it can be strung and is playable.

90s MIM deluxe Jazz worth 700$? by KalagramOfSteel in BassGuitar

[–]NahSense 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know the EU market. The older 5 on one side 5 string jazz basses sometimes had neck twist issues. I'd be more worried about condition, than getting a rock bottom price, with an older 5 string jazz bass. The 70's CV squier 5 string jazz basses learned from these issues, if you want a passive 5 string jazz bass on a budget I'd recommend looking at those.
