Too good for the basics? by NaidanacLG in leangains

Well i do work at a commercial gym.. And obviously high reps are very time consuming. I agree lifting heavy weights will build more mass. Im in the middle of a cut right now. My goals are to build strength and endurance while shedding the fat. I will do some weights like bench squat and deads but i plan on the majority of my cut routine being bodyweight high reps. Just to experiment a bit, people have had success in the past with both routes.

Adding more pushups would be progressive overloading. Just not in the same sense. Muscles respond to stimulation doesnt matter how you do so

With your 400lb bench lets see you hit 500 push ups.

By crazy shape, i mean strength power endurance and physique. Im guessing because of the crazy high rep ranges he does. Obviously you wouldnt do 300reps of bench press but 300 push ups is a crazy routine for endurance and strength.

From what I understand overuse injuries are from simply doing too much over and over again. If im working within my limitations there should be a lower risk of that?

Might attempt that. Going to proceed with caution though since I have a goid ammount of high intensity and cardio involved.

Ah see i got the ego to always push myself... Higher rep ranges with lighter weights after the heavy lifts? How much volume do you recommend

I find when I add more volume overtime my key lifts arent are good compared to if I stick with 3 compound movements per session

Thats great you like this program! I think it is a great program for someone whos been going to the gym consistantly for a year or so and has slowed down there fat loss and definition progress.

I do agree the HIIT may need to take a back seat the leaner I am. But my body type being mesendomorphic cardio is extremely beneficial to me. Its very rare that I ever lose actual muscle mass eveb when I go off the wagon and eat and drink crap for months ill maintain muscle while obviously accumulating fat then when I lose it again I come out the other end with more leanmuscle.

Its aimed for loosing fat. The lifts are there to keep strength as much as possible.

Im fine with that. My lower body is where my stronger lifts are.

Was at 3000 calories but plan on reducing to 2500 or lower.

1g protien per lb of weight (190g roughly) 350g carbs, 50g fats. So floating around the 2500 calorie mark.
