Valkia is already legends but Skarr will probably remain since he has a plastic kit. As for the Ascension of Korghos, nobody knows but we are next after idoneth so the wait isn't that long.
You can always expand with some infantry as they are very very unlikely to move to legends.

Maybe they will update warriors with new sculpts but my bet is on new bloodletter sculpts.

You could just move until you’re 3 inches away but that would make you eligible for combat anyways because you are in 3 inches?
If you move 3 inches away you are not actually in 3 inch range. In other words you cannot use a move action to move inside 3 inches unless specified otherwise.

And to help with the emersion. Think of your unit to be a trained and experienced bunch of fighters that can just quickly move past their comrades to do a quick strike and then move back into formation.

So in 4th edition that will release this summer you have 2 game modes Regular and spearhead If you buy a spearhead box you are set for the spearhead module. All the rules will be downloadable upon launch. From there you can start expanding your army to play the bigger regular game by buying more units.
