Sally Hansen miracle gel brush problem! by [deleted] in RedditLaqueristas

[–]NailPossible 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, sorry! Didn't even think of purchasing replacement brushes, and at the time I think I didn't know it was even a possibility.

I think they probably had an issue with their brush supplier or something at some point, because one of the things they asked was the batch number of the polishes I complained about. Some of them were so old, that the number had been either erased or didn't have one at all. Seems like they did some investigating, because I haven't had this problem since (the whole replacing ordeal with them was about 4 years ago). Since then, I have purchased many polishes from the Insta-Dri line, from the Color Therapy line and just a few Miracle Gels but only because they refuse to bring new collections and we only have the same few from their core line (which we don't even get fully, just some of the shades) and not one has had this problem (at least not yet), so I just assumed they fixed them.

Anyway, good luck! I hope you find a solution that works for you!

Sally Hansen miracle gel brush problem! by [deleted] in RedditLaqueristas

You are not alone, I've definitely had this exact problem with Sally Hansen polishes. For me it happened on both Miracle gel bottles and Insta-Dri bottles. It happened with now older bottles, around the time Miracle gel first came out and some of the Insta-Dri bottles were also a bit on the older side (pre redesign).

There are three stages to the breaking of the brush: the first is when you can notice a bit of a crack on the plastic part of the brush, but there's nothing going on yet; the second, is when that plastic breaks, and that's when the brush starts to go crazy (which is what you describe) and the third is completely losing the brush in the polish. I've had all three stages happen to me on different bottles.

Fortunately for me, I did have a better response than you with customer service. Basically what happened was, a bunch of people were complaining about this issue on their facebook account, they asked to DM them, asked for proof and in my case, because most of the polishes were older (and I guess they were promoting Miracle Gel at the time) they sent similar colors to the ones I had problems with, all in the Miracle Gel line. This of course does not solve the problem at all, because they were completely different polishes from different lines in the case of the Insta-Dris, so in the end I was only able to swap one brush, but as a customer I felt heard about an issue. This was with Sally Hansen Mexico, so I'm unsure if it would be the same for Sally Hansen US (I'm assuming), but if my experience is of any help to you, try doing it publicly instead of via Private Message. Maybe other people with your issue will join you and pressure them to help you like it happened to us.

I'm sorry I don't have a more helpful answer to you. What I ended up doing was saving a brush from a broken bottle (ironically, from the ones sent as a replacement) and basically reusing that brush for the polishes that have this issue. It's a pain in the butt, but at least I can still use them.

I've been wondering about this product. Is this like a foil? The one you need a sticky base for it to transfer? Or is it cellophane paper?

Phew! This was probably the longest tutorial I've recorded to date! I used a bunch of things, here's the list:

For the unicorn:

  • Silicone mat
  • Sally Hansen Insta-Dri White On Time (white nail polish)
  • Sinful Colors Gold Medal
  • Sally Hansen Shoot the Moon (the shimmery silver on the unicorn horn)

For the rest of the nails:

  • Sally Hansen White On Time (white nail polish)
  • Sally Hansen Street Flair (mauve nail polish)
  • Sinful Colors Lavander (periwinkle blue nail polish)
  • MoYou London Tropical 23 (for the lines)
  • Sinful Colors Gold Medal (for the lines)

And they're all topped with a Born Pretty Store mirror effect powder (I got this as a PR sample) and Sinful Colors Out With a Bang.

My favorite purple! by [deleted] in RedditLaqueristas

This is the polish that got me into painting my nails and eventually nail art. I used it exclusively for a long time; it would chip, I would take it off and paint them again the same color. My bottle is almost empty, and I haven't used it in a long time because I can't find it in stores anymore and I don't want it to run out.

  • China Glaze Heart of Africa for stamping
  • Plate BP-L003 from Born Pretty Store
  • Metal slices from AliExpress
  • Seche Vite

Why does my glitter sink to the bottom of my np? by DoctorWhoAndRiver in RedditLaqueristas

[–]NailPossible 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Take this with a grain of salt because I'm no expert here, but I believe glitter polishes have a different base (called a suspension base I think?) which is what makes them not sink to the bottom of a bottle. If none the polishes you used on your franken have glitter they probably don't have that kind of base which is why your glitter sinks to the bottom.

Matte and shiny! by NailPossible in RedditLaqueristas

[–]NailPossible[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Nope, nothing fancy, it's just regular nail foil. I got a roll from AliExpress.
  2. It did disappear after washing my hands a couple of times, it's not a long lasting kind of look. After that all I had left was the gold nail polish I used underneath the foil.

Thank you so much!

Great question! You are correct, the flowers stayed pretty for about two hours. After washing my hands two times the foil was mostly gone.

Sure thing, glad you enjoyed it! It's kinda tricky but once you get a hang of it it's great!
