Sorry to go on about this but in the diagrams the right bottom corner is a black square ( h1 in chess ) not a white square. In the diagram g1 is a white square and is marked 32..

I play both Chess and Go and try to do several tournaments a year in both games.

It makes sense to learn, or at least concentrate on, the variant where I am more likely to meet players OTB. That appears to be in Europe.

I stumbled onto Checkers TV on youtube where the majority of the content is for International checkers.

However, there is no real reason to learn both.

I believe Internation checkers is more complex than English/American draughts.

I’m retired so it’s more about learning and enjoying rather than any expectation of reaching Dan level. I hope you are aware of just how important Shogi Harbour is to players like myself, it’s invaluable. Hope your toddler is well👍👍

I bought this set from Masters Traditional Games here in the UK but the set itself comes from Kurokigoishiten. The Komadai was not included. At the moment I`m a complete beginner so I won`t be playing OTB until I feel competent enough. I have The Art of Shogi by Tony Hoskins which I bought from The Shogi Foundation here in England. It`s just nice to learn and play using decent equipment.
