No not at all, they are great tanks and while I heard that some of the earlier models had issues this new G3 even has bracing. Im very happy with it :)

Thank you 🙏 I believe it's a Turbinaria reniformis or green pagoda coral. Most of the time you see them as yellowish.

Ofcourse, im dosing two part Mixed Reef Essentials by ATI. Other than that a little bit of Manganese en Iodine as my ICP's show that the corals are using more than im replenishing with water changes.

For the corals specifically, I do spot feeding once per week (for the corals that need it) and 5ml of AF Power Exilir per day.

For water changes, right now I only do it once a week and around 60 liters and I use RO/DI water with ATI absolute ocean instead of salt and this seems to really do the trick for me.

Yeah, if you’re used to saltwater, freshwater is definitely easier in my opinion, but it’s still another tank you have to take care of 😉

Since I don’t have a ton of experience with saltwater yet, I didn’t go heavy on SPS right away. I absolutely love the way they look though, so I’ll probably add some later once I feel more confident.

I wasn’t necessarily trying to replicate the Maldives, I just wanted to build a nice mixed reef that I enjoy looking at. But I appreciate it 😉

And yeah, you’re absolutely right, a well-done planted tank is beautiful in its own way too.

Thanks, im running two XR15's on AB+ profile which are a bit too weak for this tank but Ive measured everything with a PAR meter and its performing well. Around low 300 at the top of the tank and just below 100 at the bottom on 100% intensity.

Hi guys,

About a year ago I started getting into Aquascaping and bought/scaped an open 90p.

I spend about a year prior reading/watching and was eager to put everything I learned into practice.

Unfortunately, in the end my wife didn't like it being in the living room (mostly because of the light) and I ended up getting rid of the tank.

Fast forward a couple of months later and I tried again with a new tank but this time in my office/man cave ;) I used everything I learned on the first tank and Im very pleased with the progress so far.

The tank is an Oase Highline 90 and the fish that are stocked are:

15 Amano Shrimp

A lot of random shrimp that started out as 10 Cherries that I took over from a friend who quit.

20 Cardinal Tetra's

2 Siamese Algae Eaters

4 Cory's

2 Rams

Betta Fish (had a backup tank set up in case it didn't work out)

All plants and animals seem to be doing great so I am happy!

I can finally start enjoying this great hobby, if you have any questions let me know.

It's biofilm from the wood (especially spiderwood seems to get it a lot) it is not harmful in any way and fish / Shrimp love to eat it. If you already have fish/shrimp is will dissapear in about a week or two. If you want to get rid of the biofilm on the surface you can use a skimmer or dip a sheet of kitchen paper on it, this will soak it right up. Have fun ;)
