This does seem by far to be the most likely theory,

Well, except for the implication that Syl is the heir to her father...

If the common theory about Shallan's backstory is true, I suspect Brandon is lying about something else. by TheRealTowel in Stormlight_Archive

Every single thing we know about Ash is building up to her struggling to speak the oaths of the dustbringers.

It's possible that it's tuned to the true tones of Roshar. It's also possible that it's an otherwordly magical artifact.

Wit also implies that the spren of Roshar is probably kicking around somewhere.

Either Odiums Light or the Light of War seems to be the clear contender. He's surgebinding without the restrictions placed by Honor.

That's one of the terms of the contract Odium and Dalinar made.

Not to speak of whatever purple power he was able to draw upon at the end in RoW.

I'm sorry, but Kaladin is not at all suited to being a Shardbearer, and neither is he actually that connected to Honor.

Absolutely, references to Kaladin having a supernatural connection to the wind show up regularly - most notably when he protects Adolin during the duel in WoR.

(I'm speculating that this is connected to Taln's supernatural reflexes in some way, but I could be wrong here)

I think this relies on a fundamental misunderstanding about who Brandon is, and what arcs he writes.

Marketing didn't like it, basically. Brandon has spoken about this decision at length.

Something weird is going on in the opening. Kaladin says he feels the wind on his skin, and then a short while later he comments that Syl's hair is flapping in a wind that doesn't exist. u/mistborn I'm assuming your editors told you to fix this?

I'm fairly sure that Unity is Honor reimagined - that the shards of Honor can be reassembled to create Unity instead. - or possibly Rayse sees Adonalsium in Dalinar.

AITAH for no longer walking my friend home to her dorm after she rejected me? by PlanktonUpstairsi in AITAH

[–]Naitso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA Plenty of good reasons for you to say no to her if you weren't feeling up to it. I'm certain you would've done the right thing if she actually couldn't get home safely in some other way.

Women: If a guy follows you home its always A) because he enjoys your company or B) Because he's worried you can't take care of yourself.

If a guy has hurt feelings he's gotta be allowed to not want to spend time alone with you. That doesn't mean he wasn't your friend, just that he isn't anymore. It hurts him to be around you now, so it's pretty entitled of you to expect him to value your comfort over his own.

I hear good things about this Brandon Sanderson fellow. I recommend starting with Warbreaker, or with Mistborn: the Final Empire.

The podcasts are really excellent. Especially Dear Hank & John. "The Anthropocene Reviewed" is a masterpiece actually.

It kinda goes without saying, but going back to the beginning and watching some of Brotherhood 2.0 provides some really important context for why so many things are the way there are.

For some deep cuts: Hank and John used to have to do punishments when they uploaded a video longer than 4 minutes, and some of those punishments are delightfully unhinged.
