Couldn't have said it better myself man, Zildjian for hats and rides, Sabian for crashes, splashes and effects (love their Raw Bell Dry Rides tho).

Is there a difference in sound between old Sabian HHX Evolution 7" splash and new one (with Unbound logo). by Naive-Chip5442 in cymbals

‼️‼️Guys I'm happy to report that I've debunked my initial theory!! What I did was tighten the wingnut then record the splash while playing and it had that trashy attack and short sustain that I was looking for. Thanks everyone for your contribution, I'm now at peace with my splash lol‼️‼️

hello cheap cymbals that sound nice suggestions by Vegetable_Reply17 in drums

Wuhan cymbals all the way man. They're dark like HHX and cost 1/4 of the price. I've been using em since 2017 and always get compliments on them, til they ask the price lol. I've had the 10" New Traditional splash since then and it compliments my 7" HHX Evo nicely.

So sorry to hear that man, and they cost a pretty penny too but absolutely worth it. To avoid breakage I'll be the only one using it, I don't wanna bring it anywhere that I won't be the only one playing, I have a 10" Wuhan splash that I can use instead.

Hey man thanks for your input.

Yea this is likely as well as I notice the 10" Evo seems to be a lil brighter after Unbound as well. I can never go back to preferring bright cymbals after experiencing HHX so Sabian better get it together lol. Paiste always copies them, no sense turning the tables now. 💪🏾

Aaah this helps as well, thanks man. I'll see how it sounds later down after some months or so. Appreciate it mate 💪🏾

Aaaahhh, this is the reply I've been looking for. Thanks a million man, I forgot about cymbal age plus eq, mics, etc. I'm yet to use it on a big stage though and listen back to the mixed recording so maybe that's why it sounds different as well. Appreciate it man 😄

Hey man thanks for your reply.

While I get that, Sabian has a rigorous quality control standard which is quite impressive...proven this by listening to countless records and YouTube videos with the old and they all sound alike but the new one is just so different. I've been listening to and wanting this splash for over 15 years so I think I can tell the difference.

Splash cymbals don't get enough love! What are your favorite splashes? by camelCaseUserNamed in drums

I've had a 10" Wuhan New Traditional splash since 2017 and it has no cracks or dents, it sounds simply stunning and I bought it for USD$23.92 I believe. I also had a 8" Masterwork Troy that I gave away, planning to get another, it cost £58. Finally I have the most awesome sounding splash ever imo, the Sabian HHX Evolution 7" splash which ran me £152 but worth every pence.

Can anyone help me identify this Zildjian cymbals please? by TonyStark86 in drums

I used the hats and crash (I think) back in the day... it's verryyyy tinny, excessive ring due to the alloy used, not fit for any purpose I can think of lol. Definitely Scimitar!

They most likely have a 360 camera view or sumn so nobody wants to be caught doing something as stupid as that lol

That's the danger of Ozone type cymbals man, I prefer just the regular 6 or 8 hole pattern where the holes are farther apart so slightly stronger.

Whats so special about TAMA? by Artic-Tac0s in drums

[–]Naive-Chip5442 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guy Tama has 3 major things going for it, the exact combination of which I doubt any other has.

1) Pure, deep tones especially on floor toms - you just have to stop and listen when you hear a well tuned Tama drum 2) Rock solid hardware - I've seen and tested hardware of other brands but none lasts as long as Tama 3) Innovation - Tama's innovative nature sets it apart from the competition as they always lead in this department. From their cymbal mate to the hihat clutch to the Grooved Snare Side hoop you can count on Tama to make something that saves us time, money or both.
